How many people that voted no in the poll have a problem with other people drinking, smoking, doing drugs, etc?
That belly fat will also help out with some serious heart disease. FACT: For every 3 inches a man gains on his waist, he loses 1 inch from the base of his penis. the cruelty of life: a woman gains weight and her boobs get bigger
A women gets pregged up, they cant lose the "baby weight"....yet how many fat older asian ladies do you see? 40 year old asian women look younger than 25 year old American women. All American women have to show from that though is bigger boobs, and milf and chubby chasers pursuing them instead of "regular" guys......man, they're sure getting a raw deal out of it. In 1000 more years they'll probably do away with natural birth altogether and make everyone asexual with men and women parts through test tubes. Do away with gender altogether probably. In the interest of "fairness and balance".
I've noticed a great percentage of women who are overweight than men. I do understand that women have inherently higher body fat percentages, but it seems that more women are out of shape than men these days.
On a corollary, I don't really understand people who say they are on a diet. Basically it tells me that this person is choosing to eat healthy for only a time being, and when they lose the pounds they wish for, they will just go back to their normal routines. Losing weight, keeping it off and being healthy is not a short term thing, but rather a lifestyle. I wish instead of someone saying they are on a diet, they instead say, "I am choosing to live healthy from now on."
as long as one wears appropriate clothing. exposed muffin tops are criminal. no one needs to see that.
I do have a problem with obesity in terms of health reasons. However I'm 265 lbs and I'm a happy person. More cushion for the pushin for my gf.. oh wait--
Heavy people should have to pay more for airline tickets. I mean I've heard that in economy class they charge you for baggage that exceeds certain weight limits even if it's only by a couple pounds. But what if it's some petite woman who only weighs 100lbs, and meanwhile some 300lb man ends up getting on the flight for less $ altogether Also, average sized people should not be forced to subsidize heavy people when buying clothes. Why should a size Medium or Large be the same exact price as say an XX-Large!
That should be the question. The problem I have with these types of debates is that while we have a problem with obesity we also have a problem with bulimia and anorexia. "Fat" too often seems to be based on appearance versus any real assessment of health and things like the BMI don't help as that is a very simplistic assessment. Should people watch what they eat and exercise of course but just to judge somebody's health or anything else just because they don't meet your own standard of beauty is wrong.
What does that have to do with anything? I never said anything about drinking and driving. I was wondering how many of the people that think it is unacceptable for someone else to put a bunch of junk food in their own body are perfectly fine with other people putting alcohol, tobacco, and/or various illicit drugs in their body, in the privacy of their own home and not driving around.
Anorexia and bulimia are not an epidemic, Obesity is. I think our culture is too accepting of obesity. When you are paying for insurance in a way you are subsidizing them. Its OK to be a little overwieght, but when you are 5-7 230 then that is a problem. It is not good for society on a whole having a large chunk of your population that is fat.
you never said that. people prefer to drink outside, going with that I will add drinking is linked to domestic violence and accidental deaths.
Some experts would disagree: http://www.annecollins.com/eating-disorders/statistics.htm [rquoter]Eating disorders, like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating, are becoming increasingly prevalent throughout western countries. According to US estimates from The National Institute of Mental Health, between 5 per cent and 10 per cent of girls and women (i.e. 5-10 million people) and 1 million boys and men suffer from eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, or other associated dietary conditions. Estimates suggest that as many as 15 percent of young women adopt unhealthy attitudes and behaviors about food.[/rquoter] There is no doubt that there are more obese people than there are anorexic and bulimic people put the numbers for those shouldn't be ignored. I think everyone agrees that its not good to be obese but a fixation on judging people on who is healthy or even socially acceptable based on shallow standards of appearance isn't good either. Its ridiculous and unhealthy to say "being fat is not OK" when that is such a subjective standard based only on appeareance. There are people who most would consider fat who are far more healthy than those who most would consider thin. Rather than trying to stigmatize someone for looking fat the emphasis should be on things like overall cardiovascular health. The problem is that you can't just look at someone and say, "Oh man she has such a healthy heart."
