I agree and if you order something healthy these same people look at you funny and make jokes all because they themselves feel guilty. I avoid unhealthy friends as well.
I saw a study that found obese people actually cost the medical insurance LESS because they died so soon and didn't need the long term elderly care. If this is true than I say it is perfectly fine and a personal choice.
Summary of the BBS hangout: I want a big plate of fried food. Chili's or Bennigan's? Let's go through a drive-thru. One with bacon burgers and double fried fries. I need to poop. I cannot wait to sit on my arse for hours playing the latest video game! Please no fat chicks. Why can't they take better care of themselves? (all this doesn't apply to any one individual, but you see the double standards and the problems our American lifestyle has. At least this whole thing is making me want to hit the gym today.)
dudes just have to have cash, women have to look good. its one of the many tradeoffs for multi O's and the ability to go months without sex.
Funny thing is in the past few days 3 different chicks have complained and told me how I need to start eating more. I'm probably 10lbs underweight (168lbs) right now from playing too much pickup bball 5 days a week. I dunno what to do differently though......I eat nonstop all day long already
It turns out there's a correlation between the size of a man's belly and his sex drive. If you can't keep it up, time to run and hit some weights. Not only that, but abdominal fat is likely a cause of type 2 diabetes.
I recently read somewhere from a very reputable news source, that fat people are actually unfit to live and should be experiment on in facilities on nearby desert islands.
Okay, I didn't vote in the poll. But here's my opinion. Some people are fighting the battle but losing the war. Culturally we are brought up on fast food and watching television. Does everyone do this? No, but the grand majority of the US population has been. We all work 40+ hours a week and some of us go to school along with that. Then if you have family you want to make sure you have time to be with them. Making time for creating good meals is really something you have to force yourself to do, because its much easier to "pick something up on the way home". Plus the main way that we socialize is over food and drink. "Let's go to the bar and watch a game" "Come over and we will make some metts on the grill" "Wanna go check out that new restaurant" So we are fighting our culture as well as the weight it causes. Now, do I think people should be satisfied thinking that I am this big I can't do anything about it? No. Even if you don't diet you can try to make an effort to make healthy choices. All the fast food places are giving you alternative options so there is no reason why you can't choose the smarter solution. I guess what I am saying that, for people with slow metabolism (like the majority of Americans), being fat is something that you have to fight against. To make a major effort to be thin. There is nothing wrong with having some extra weight, as long as you are working to do better and stay healthy. That may not be working out in a gym 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, but instead walking your dog twice a day. That may be making the effort to create two or three healthy dinners instead of stopping for fast food or going out to a restaurant every night. That may be inviting your friends out to play sand volleyball at a park instead of going to a bar on a week night when they want to get together. There are people who are "fat and lazy" and there are people who are "fat but trying" so you can't paint them all with the same brush. As long as you are healthy, having a bit of extra weight isn't a horrible thing.
yes, it's ok to be overweight if the person who is overweight is happy with it. as i stated in the previous thread (after the mean joke), i prefer folks with more weight on them. i guess i'm a chubby chaser (not that there's anything wrong with that). seems like they have better personalities and have more fun or something... i dunno.
The one country where its mandatory to be fat http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/3429903.stm It is okay to be fat? - Generally, yes cuz there's just gonna be overweight people in the world. Being "large" throughout history in different cultures has had both positive and negative connotations to it. And would you rather be thin and miserable throughout life or die a little earlier but be fat and happy? When being fat ISNT okay - Only if you're in an occupation that requires a bit of physical performance or physical appearances like athletics, military/law enforcement, modeling, etc....and even then they bend the guidelines. Knowing what we know today on obesity, its "okay" but still shouldnt be too highly encouraged....facts state the +'s tend to "outweigh " the -'s in trimming fat from the body. But its up to personal choice....
I'm not quite sure that the 3/4ths of you who say it isn't o.k to be fat are suggesting. If you are just saying you don't want to be fat, or don't want to date fat, more power to ya. But I sort of suspicion that some of you would round us up into lardass concentration camps and have us do crunches and eat broccoli til we met your acceptable societal standard. That I kind of have to object to.
This doesn't make sense cause once those people are dead they don't pay their premiums. When they are alive I am sure their healthcare costs are more than the average person. I think the one problem I have is some people advocating learning to love the way you are instead of losing weight. I don't think you should accept being fat because it hurts your health. If this same question was asked about smoking I am sure a large chunk of you will say you should quit. Being fat hurts you just like smoking.
Question should be is it ok to be unhealthy? There are plenty of skinny people out there with poor health as well and it is attributed to their diet. There are plenty of fat people like that as well. So the question should be is it ok to be unhealthy? I personally don't mind people that are overweight, but those that are morbidly obese do make me cringe. There eventually reaches a point in obesity where you have to work hard to become that much of a fat ass.
Feel free to be as fat as you want, its your body. Just be responsible and make sure you have health insurance so I dont have to cover your ass if you develop chronic health conditions as you age. And dont sit on me on the subway...that pisses me off.
I hate it when the fat person in his/her gigantic SUV puts on his/her turn signal when a person in a very close parking spot is about to leave. And then I have to go around them. WTF a long walk won't hurt you (Unless you have some medical condition, of course). Anyways, I used to be overweight in late elementary and most of middle school. My cousins always teased me because of my love handles and hump on my neck. It hurt really bad to the point I got tired of it. I remember always doing jumping jacks and all kinds of excercises I could think of when I got home from school and I guess it worked cuz now I'm a slim 6ft, 155lbs. I love showing off my chiseled abs.
It's ok to be fat. It's not ok to expect everyone to bend over backwards for your ****** or to take the easy way out with liposuction, gastric bypass, etc. If you're fat, then accept it, or work your way to a happier size
At some point I'd like to be able to wear name brand clothing; or to sit in a plane, stadium or older theater without having my whole lower half go numb. Or be able to shop for cars smaller than SUVs, Cadillacs or Buicks. So, no, it's probably not ok to make oneself fat.
