Is it me or does it seem like we're trying to be like the Mavs?

You mention Jefferies as a proof of Morey's evidence to take on money. But how is that hardly a representation to spend money? It was a 7 million dollar contract, for one year. Does that scream money-spender to you? And you say most teams would reject on Jefferies? That is purely speculation and even if you say that, a lot of the teams would have still spent money, only on other places, like draft and FA.

You also mention flexibility. How is our team ever flexible? If we are, then how come we lost out on LeBron/2010 free agency sweepstakes, Melo, Deron, and basically have no chance to gain any other star? Compared to Morey, Cuban has gone out and signed Marion, offered the full MLE to Gortat and Haslem, signed Brendan Haywood to a mammoth contract, flipped out big for Jason Kidd, and also bought picks, see Dominique Jones. His willingness to take on DeShawn Stevenson can be said to be equal to Morey's willingness to take on Jefferies, so you can hardly say Morey has an advantage on that department.

I agree that they are both big on stats. Mark Cuban has hired Roland Beech, as you mentioned, and he also went out and hired that Winston guy who runs that blog, (I forgot his name). Cuban also wanted K-mart who Morey also really wanted. and yes they also both went after iguodala, butler, haywood, gortat, kmart, etc.

But what their actions have indicated seems to anyone that they are pretty far apart. Weren't we trying to win now for the better part of the Yao era? Which free agents or big signings did we conduct? Shane Battier? That's probably Morey's biggest acquisition.

Yep, we are like the Cavs, Grizzlies, Kings, Knicks, etc or name any other team with a coaching staff with 4 people(1 head coach and 3 assistant coaches), take on additional salary, and shown interest in Carmelo Anthony, Iguodala, Chandler and company.

We are probably least like the Mavs and their army of 13 assistant coaches vs 3 assistant coaches with Adelman and JVG, and the rest of the league.

    Okay. No argument here.

I'd like some examples here. I mean, which big contracts that nobody wanted did the Rockets take on? Jackie Butler? Jared Jeffries? And for that matter, while Cuban's Mavs have definitely never shied away from spending, I can't think of too many truly over-paid players they've had that they didn't create themselves (ala Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard). Maybe Shawn Bradley? Refresh my memory.

Well, perhaps no explanation is necessary except for you to explain how the Rockets were following the Mavs plan by trading for intangibles players when the Rockets traded for Battier a whole two years BEFORE the Mavs traded for Kidd.

    Sure.

Except the Rockets didn't bust their wad too soon and so they actually got Kevin Martin. Furthermore, who in the hell is Jeffery Haywood? His name is Brendan.

And that we don't have the biggest douche bag in the league as an owner.
