I'm 28, thank you very much Thanks to all of you for the kind words...I like to read these threads from time to time to see what everyone is saying. Feedback is the best way for me to improve my show and help to improve the morning show, as well...
Hey AC, are they doing internships at 610? I would love to talk Rockets/Texans/'Stros and post on Clutch BBS during my job.... I keed, I keed....
Actually yes....if you're really serious, email Bill Van Rysdam (program director) about an internship gig: bvanrysdam@cbs.com. I think we're set for the summer, but there's always the fall...and Texans season
Hehe, believe me, I would jump on the opportunity. But since I work in the butthole of Texas - DalASS, it would be a little difficult for me to do an internship.....
does anyone actually listen when they do their golf hours? christ in a bucket...golf on tv horrible, golf on radio?
I love 610, but even I can't sit through the golf hour. I switch the station back on to Clanton though once the clock strikes 10am.
maybe raheel can elaborate.. but what the hell exactly happened with rich lord and the 1560 people at the festival of greece thing? i caught a little bit of the guys on 1560 including raheel saying rich lord thought 1560 was messing with their equipment and he got pissed so he started dropping eff bombs. did anyone listen while this was happening? i hate rich lord, and this adds to my disliking of him. last week i think there was something wrong with their mics and there was some feedback on the air, and rich kept going on about the producer doing something wrong, and they kept on going back and forth about it. i could tell the producer/sound guy was getting kinda annoyed because rich lord kept blaming him or something like that.. anyways.. get rich lord off the air, CBS.
That is my same ritual everytime they are on. Switch to anyone else for that hour and then come back to 610 at 10. AMEN! That guy is horrible.
My uncle calls me... and he says: "Turn on 610 right now... there are some STUPID people commenting on the Rockets' game"... but since I hadn't seen the game at that time, I told him I'd wait. He says: "yeah, I know you're a die hard fan and wouldn't be a bandwagoner like those LA Faker fans... those dudes are complete morans..." So I called him today... and he says "well, it was the Faker fans... saying how 'oh, we knew the Lakers would win' and crap like that... and then there were some other idiots that said 'how you like that, Houston?' so... I was thinking about calling in and saying "O Yeah? You knew it? Then why did you watch the game? 'Cuz you knew the future but it still took you 7 games, didn't it, you idiot?'... so I was pissed... I know you would be laughing with all that stupidity... anyway, later..." Boy, am I glad I didn't listen. I would have been in tears from laughing so much. But... yes, some of those peeps don't offer insight to the game. Also, there was one call for MattJ (or whoever is on right before the game) and some dude goes "You know darn sure the Rockets ain't gonna win [just before game 6]... you know the Lakers are going to win this one... no way in hell they give them one more game to feel sorry for them" so MattJ turns around and says, interrupting the caller [if I can recall correctly] "Oh, yeah? Well, then, why were the Rockets able to beat them without Yao in game 4? That's good of you to say, but it's not like the Lakers swept the Jazz or blew them out every game... or what can you tell me about that first game IN LOS ANGELES? -- click -- What? I argue your point and you hang up? Where are you Lakers' fan? Oh, well... ok... I guess tell them the truth and they'll go away... Anyway, on to the next call..." MattJ, if it was you, and you're listening, I laughed HARD. Thank you for that...
If it weren't too early in the day, you could do an easy drinking game with the Monsters show. Every time that dude says "MAN" you drink. You'd be under the table in an hour.
Man, you're kidding right? Sports radio is HUGE in Dallas. 103.3 ESPN and 1310 The Ticket make money like nobody's business there. There's a lot of stuff to hate about Dallas, but their sports radio scene and fan support far trumps any other city I've lived in (namely Houston, San Antonio, Austin, OKC, Tulsa...).
True. Dallas sportsradio and fervor for their teams blows Houston away by a mile. Dallas is more into sports than Houston.
