I've always rated AK47 very high. To me, he's a superstar in the making. He's one of the very few players in this league who can dominate a game without even taking a shot. He's still very young and his offense will continue to improve. This guy reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen more than anyone in the league (I know...I hate Quitten too).

THIS is what I'm worried about. While I don't really advocate trading Yao immediately, I wouldn't rule it out altogether either. If Yao is still playing like this two or three years from now, is he too marketable and too much of a fan-favorite to trade, even if the deal is in Houston's favor?

You guys are pathetic! After 2 not so good games in a new season and now you want to trade Yao immediately to Utah for AK freaking 47???!!

I agree. Have you ever heard him talk in interviews? The guy talks about basketball like Hubie Brown. He *knows* the game. Love his hustle and his techniques. Not a dominant scorer, but just a complete basketball player.

Last night, Kobe (kinda) dunked on him. And I was thinking to myself that AK47 would NOT come right back, but not a dunk. What did AK47 do the next play?

Simple 18 footer in Kobe's face.

I believe it was against butler and not kobe and it was anything but simple. A step back fade 18 footer.

but to the topic of the thread AK played extremely well without scoring the ball last night and generally does that most of the nights, with boozer and harpring healthly he will not have to concentrate on scoring and do all the other things on the court which he does so well, play the lanes, block, facilitate the offense and board.

but if I had a choice of him or yao? I would have to go with yao still because you can build a team around yao while AK I believe is probably the ultimate 2nd option in the league right now much like how scottie was. (pip was a better scorer though) the only thing stopping yao right now is himself, he just needs to get sometimes lose vision of all his teammates and just go in and post and shoot. he is too timid, I am not sure if its just that this year the massive roster change or what but I am going to wait till the end of december to make an generalizations about the team for the season, not after 2 freaking games

I should have said, a calm and cool shot! No pressure. He just did it.

It was also fun watching him swat Kobe's shot.

AK47 is a complete player and he is so young. I really like his game.

Which time? They guy is everywhere on defense.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but: Sloan did a great job with this team. People predicted the Jazz to be the worst team in the league last year, now they are a playoff lock.

    Um, you mean like T-Mac?

Don't worry about Yao, he'll be signing with the Lakers in '07 …

its AMAZING to see how many lurkers are on this board that just are posting like crazy now that the team is 0-2, where will you guys all be when the rockets do finally starting gelling and play well? or when yao does the unthinkable and signs an extension with the rockets?

It's also interesting how some Laker fans are looking to the future (2007) in terms of Yao, but Rocket fans are NOT. Many of fair-weather fans are b****ing about two games (0-2).

    Hey!!

There's nothing wrong with being a lurker - especially with all the ridiculous drivel that goes on around here sometimes!!

Oh wait - you're criticising a different kind of lurker.....

Anyway, so that I at least say something on topic:

I think Yao has some serious shortcomings (pardon the pun) - but I would find it extremely difficult to trade him for any player in this league (perhaps Lebron James - perhaps).

Centres don't grow on trees - and offensive centres are, well rare! I'd say there are exactly 3 guys in this league who are genuine centres on the offensive end! And Yao is one of them!

And just on Yao's shortcomings: Clearly they are in the rebounding and shot-blocking departments, but when you're talking about 10 and 2 being a weakness.... is there anybody else here who remembers the days between Hakeem and Yao??? We would've taken those numbers in a heartbeat (without any offense).

I know he's turned the ball over a bit and been a little quiet on offense, but it's 2 games in! I'll guarantee right now that he gets at least 17 points per contest at better than 50% shooting for the season

Yao a superstar??????????? Tell that to the marines. He cant and he will never be. He will just be a popular player because of his ethnic background but thats it. A 7'4 Brad Miller is twice better than a 7'6 yao ming. A 6'10 elton brand is a much more effective player than our 7'6 stiff. Dig that. Im a die hard rocket fan. I was a big dream fan during the 90's, a steve francis fan during his early years with the team, then i was so excited when the team drafted yao. I wasnt expecting yao to turn things around during his rookie season eventhough it is very evident that hes something special. On his second year, he improved a lot but not to the point of being a dominant big man ala dream or a TD. Now, entering his third year, i have very huge expectations. What do you think that the way he plays will be much different than the way he played the last two seasons? What makes you think that way? The only thing that has changed is his physique. His demeanor on the court changed a bit, but hes still soft, still slow, still makes the same mistakes again and again. How many times would you see him put the ball after a rebound, after a pass on the post, and everybody craves about his fundamentals. You want fundamentals, watch TD, thats fundamentals. Hes not a top 20 player. Hes more of a top 30 player. This team will never achieve greatness. You can win titles without a superstar. The pistons just did it. This team dont need a tmac to win a title. What this team needs is a 7'6 YAO MING playing up to his potentials. He can do it but he chooses not to. Hes not an athletic freak like the dream but hes special in his own way. Its sad. I hope its not another long season for the fans. So many teams in the west have become better. Heres hoping that the real yao shows up.

a better deal is to trade tmac and any other rockets player except yao for ak47 and boozer.

tmac just shoots too much. if he makes them, great. if he misses, fast break for the other team.

A lot of you are just down right insane! You go through mood swings faster than Babs Bush on menopause! At the start of the season everyone was high on the Rockets......now some of you are acting as if the bottom has fallen out of the damn season. Listen, it's only two games and it's going to take more than two games for the Rockets to gel.

Don't piss on Yao or TMac JUST yet...wait until a few more weeks and if nothing has changed, then start worrying.

Yep. He was a great pick up, but Yao has the potential to be a much bigger difference maker.

Of course, there are notable exceptions where the best players on championship teams do not play power positions, but T-Mac is no Jordon.

why do people feed the trolls? When someone starts out with "I'm a diehard rockets fan but...." you know serious troll material is going to follow that.
