I'm pretty sure that that is originally a German name.

So it should be Boo-ding-er :p

Does anyone know what kind of grades Clyde was pulling down at U of H?

With all due respect, The Glide doesnt strike me as exceptionally bright.

This reminds me of Deron William's rookie season where I kept thinking it's <De-Ron> instead of <Dar-en>.

Somehow I like Budin-Jerr much better..

Bill, Bull, Kevin, etc pronounce it "ger".

Name butcher-meister Clyde pronounces it "jer". That should be enough said.

Bull asked him how to pronounce it during a postgame, and he clearly stated BU-DING-GER.

Unfortunately, you might not need to know how to pronounce his last name... I think he's going to get traded if a deal involving tmac happens.

I hope the Rockets keep him..........

My understanding (based on my recollection of him pronouncing his own name) is that it's a hard G (as in the words "tiger" or "finger"). It's not the soft G, which sounds more like a J when pronounced (it's not a soft G as in the words "merger" and "manger").

When you think "Budinger" think "tiger" or "finger" (hard G) and you'll always get it right. :p

I also think it's a German name, so I'm with you on the pronunciation.

About 4:50 into the video it is made clear that his name is pronounced Bud-ing-ger...emphasis on GRRR. :)

FWIW, in an article on Budinger in 2006 (focusing on his decision between pursuing basketball or Olympic volleyball), Sports Illustrated made it a point to try and get the pronunciation correct:

"It was such a tough decision," says Budinger (pronounced BUD-ing-grr, with a hard G in the last syllable).

I think back in those days you could get away with not actually going to class but still "passing" your classes. I swear i must roll my eyes at what he says at least 100 times every game he is on.....BRING BACK CALVIN MURPHY!!

Ok I think he is jerking us around and laughing about it LOL

I could SWEAR I have heard him in an interview saying it is JER .. and then other people say he has said it is GRR

And you can't go by what the interviewers say when they are talking to him, because he doesn't correct them either way.

This is going to end up being a Hakeem/Akeem thing, eventually he will let us all know definitively...

Honestly, I and most people I've heard talk about him switch between Ger and Jerr, at random.

Until I have to interview him or something, I will stick with that.
