I'm not trying to jerk anybody around. While probably not noticeable, I don't trust Hillary. She has been playing nice since her questionable concession speech, but now I suspect she is making one last play to seize the nomination by championing her 18M voters to have a voice in the nomination -- and possibly changing it to her via a superdelegate conversion in a deadlocked convention. It's a win-win for her either way -- coming off with the nomination or showing off her "star" power without an open challenge to Obama. This leads to her coronation in 2012 if Obama fails to win (unlikely) or governs poorly (more than likely).
Can't help but notice the quiet glee emanating from your concerned scenario, but I think you're going to be disappointed.
I'm no fan of Hillary, but this controversy is completely media created. See video below of the appearance where Clinton made this statement. In context, you can see that she's trying to rein in the wild fantasies of her more feverish supporters. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M8gdU_1MM44&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M8gdU_1MM44&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Quite the contrary, mc mark. A successful Obama for eight years is the political wooden stake needed to finally remove her from the national stage. My deep concern is that Obama will be pressured into a concession making her the vice presidential nominee. That would force me back into the Republican camp. McCain is too rooted in politics of the past, but at least he is a good person at heart. Either Obama or McCain will be a weak President, but having Hillary as VP is like having a female Caligula next to the throne.
While it won't tell us anything about the post-primary stuff, this will give us some insight into the inner workings of the Clinton campaign: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/08/07/atlantic_scores_internal_clint.html Atlantic Scores Internal Clinton Campaign Emails Just when you thought everyone had moved on... former advisers to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton are in a tizzy over an upcoming piece in the Atlantic Monthly that chronicles the inner workings of the now-defunct campaign. Of particular concern are nearly 200 internal memos that the author, Josh Green, obtained -- 130 or so of which he plans to scan in and post online. When the piece is published sometime next week, readers will be able to scroll through the memos, from senior strategists such as Mark Penn, Harold Ickes and Geoff Garin, and see what exactly was going on inside the infamously fractured Clinton organization. That has some former team members in a panic. And we thought the Abramoff e-mails were fun....
Maybe they stopped making up news since this video... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/E0re-pybess&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/E0re-pybess&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Your statement is not accurate. McClellan said he didn't send O'Reilly talking points, he never backed away from others at Fox News. Olbermann may be leaning to the left, but his news is accurate, and when mistakes are made he admits them. They covered the McClellan/O'Reilly stuff. If you have evidence of inaccuracies on Countdown feel free to post them.
I'm not dismissing 18 million supporters, only the small percentage of that who feel they and Hillary are owed something major. I also never used the word r****ded, or commented on their mental condition at all.
That's Clinton's nefarious plan to wait until Obama is on vacation and then launch a Democrat coup ala the Soviet Politburo in 1990 when Gorbachev was vacationing.
My unfavorable opinion of Hillary, though subtly expressed, has never wavered. However, although my views on Bill's presidency have ameliorated over the years, he still acts strangely at times.
I often listen to Rush for about 10 minutes on the car radio. That is all you need to know the talking points for Dana and Fox. I don't watch them, but see Dana on ABC occasionally and Oberman often will mention the Fox News them of the day. To go even further the Basso and TJ theme of the day is consistent also. It is called the "Right wing echo chamber". Fox is what makes it so powerful since its audience is large and they repeat continually throughout the 24 period. In some cases the the talking points, regardless of truth, are picked up by ABC, NBC, CBS, NYT etc.
Back to the Hillary thing. It sort of remind me of the political media equivalent of the Yao-Artest media engendered dispute. Gets eyeballs in a slow news cycle. I believe Obama has been vacationing in Hawaii this week. Maybe McCain is on vacation, too.
Do you realize you criticized me for posting and "try[ing] to get reliable news" from an Olbermann clip based upon an (unsubstantiated) "challenge" by Bill friggin' O'Reilly??? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...
He was short and a bit stocky. He had a clean shaven face, wranglers, cowboy boots, but no cowboy hat. He looked to be in his mid 30's. His belt buckle said TJ, thats how I knew it was him. Really strange dream and if he really looks anything like that, then I'll really be freaked out.
