The main complaint about Lost was the lack of resolution and substance behind the mysteries.

Some of that can be filled in by online theories who pieced together off the show clues.

Not as satisfying but it helps ramp down the disappointing ending after your binge....

I also think the way they did their characters dirty was really sad, but the character development is pretty damn strong.

Heroes was rolling, popular, fresh, everything was going GREAT.

And then the stupid writer's strike killed it - just absolutely destroyed that show, and it never recovered.

The one I was most sad about though was Pushing Daisies.

What an AMAZINGLY great show that was, and once again, the strike destroyed it.

Lost was good until you realized that the writers don't know where they're going with it.
The show was all about mystique and what kept you going was hope that you'd get the answers for all the questions, however you'd soon realize that the writers don't have an answer and are making it up as they go, that's when you stop watching.
I don't remember much about Heroes but I think it was basically the same thing. They started the show with no end in mind and just tried to prolong it for as long as they could.

Don't support those kinds of writers.

I totally disagree with the apparent consensus on Heroes. Season 1 was great. They really lost their way in Season 2, but I think it improved again after that. It seems to me they squandered what loyalty they had by sucking in Season 2, and people are much more critical of the remaining seasons as a result.

    OP,

Heroes season 1 is worthwhile no matter what. You won't regret it. Try watching seasons 2/3/4 and just stop if you think it falls off the rails too much.

Lost was great and I have no regrets to watching every single episode. But, IMO, it is definitely NOT worth the investment of time now. Just don't do it.

As someone else mentioned, Luther is great. Forget Heroes season 1 and watch it first.

When asking about a series and a large chunk of people who are well-versed are negative, that is a very bad sign. Hence, do not watch Lost. Heroes season 1 and Luther are universally praised, so watch them.

I honestly had no idea Heroes went past season 2. For some reason I thought they cancelled it midway, but I guess I hated it so much I imagined it. It seemed like they were trying to milk the momentum by stretching everything out slooooowly which of course killed said momentum.

Lost also suffered the same fate midway when there was a bit of filler but they got back on track.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how powerful the characters gotten during Season 2. It was to the point where it had no where to go but off a cliff. It's like "Hey, you were pretty powerful in season 1 Sylar. Lets make you omnipotent for season 2!"

Theoretically they had the same thing in Peter, and thankfully they didn't make the show just an arms race between the two. But that was kind of what made season 1 awesome so I don't know what I'm talking about.

That's what it felt like though. It was him Sylar and Hiro. Once Hiro started to time travel and use more of his powers it was game over for me. I just remember being so jacked up for Season 2's premiere and getting exponentially disappointed with every subsequent episode. The TV nerd in me wanted the show to succeed but the comic book nerd in me just thought it sucked royally.

This. I honestly think a good season 5 might have given new life to a struggling show.

I remember watching a few episodes of Heroes S2 and did teh lulz and erased it from my memory. Now all I remember from Heroes is "save the cheerleader" and Spock looking lost without Kirk.

Pushing Daisies was a GREAT show. Started out really strong and Lee Pace was great in it.

I also recently started watching Lost and I've enjoyed it so far through season 3.

Heroes had a very good first season and fell off hard after that, but it was still watchable and I enjoyed it for the most part.

The Lost bashing around here is puzzling. Heroes isn't even a pimple on the ass of Lost.

I thought season two of Heroes was ok. If seasons three and four had been ok nobody would bash season two. Unfortunately, season three WAS bad and season four was as bad as anything I've seen.

Lost was great. I would encourage anyone to watch it all the way through.

this is probably the best advice

Battlestar blows both of these out of the water
