Since this is now in the D & D let me indulge myself by bringing up Sishir Chang's D & D moratorium rule #6 "If insulted by another poster do not respond in a likewise manner."
No the Ryan Bowen rule would be to viscouly dunk the offending poster through the hoop and into the floor and then say, "Ryan Bowen loves you but sometimes we have to hurt those we love!"
I almost got crushed at the Texas Boy's High School Basketball State championships a couple of years ago. TJ's Willowridge team won in the first round and they opened up the ticket window for the second game when everyone else was trying to get out. It was surreal how I was at the complete mercy of the crowd, thousands of people were pushing from each side. But Hoops is a very fervent religion.
Yea - I've been to some pretty bad general admission concerts in the mid70s that were bad and I can see how injuries happen. Once the crowd makes it's push, you cannot stop the force. But you've have to be trampled pretty good by more than a few people to be hospitalized. And I can even see an extreme case where a few deaths could tragically happen (see The Who but I think that was by getting crushed against a fence, knocking the wind out of them - not trampled). But I would think you'd have to be stepped on by around 100 people to die. How 345 people could die and 1000+ injured, boggles my mind. Unless the same person was trampling multiple people, you're probably talking about 35,000 - 100,000 tramplers.
Depending on how in shape you are you get killed by having one person step on you in the right spot. If you don't think so try lying down and having someone step right on your adam's apple.
actually, many people preach but dont follow on what they preach. personally if someone is giving good advice, you still take it, regardless of the crap that they are into. you see rappers and rock stars etc etc on TV all the time saying "kids dont do drugs" yet on the 9 o clock news, you see em getting arrested for drugs, sounds stupid? sure, but you have to realize, no ones perfect.
