He is not a max guy, simple as that. He played that that leave through dec-feb in 13/14 season and that is it.
He's not. But on a Lowry-type deal he'd be a bargain. Toronto really put one over on the league on the Kyle contract.
If rox offers him 5 yr max or close to the max, he will not opt in because he is 29 and one injury will take away 50 mil from his next big contract. Security matters.
I don't believe that the Lakers really intend to offer him the max. They're not THAT stupid. They're just trying to scare away potential trade partners.
pretty much, if he gets traded to a contender they'd have trouble prying him away, if he stays in phoenix, it'd be pretty easy
Most pgs in the market will be restricted and they will have to overpay for someone to go to a losing high pressure situation like NY or LA. At least Dragic was wise to proclaim that he cares about the money and will give EVERYONE an equal chance. Not sure others will give LAL and NY an equal chance with the trainwrecks they are plus having to deal with their insane press and diva washed up stars like Kobe and Melo.
I agree but it will be a very huge gamble and depends how certain is Dragic on himself at his age. He's older than Love and not as a big name so it's a little different. If he takes the risk and faces an injury or he needs more time to adjust to his new team and teammates and have some down games then he will also lose a lot of money. Buttler is run to the ground and the Bulls players are always injured one after the other. In his unique case I don't see him taking the QO only because of the tax Thibs puts on his players. The prospect of an injury is more likely than with another coach. However every other 3 and 4 year player who is flirting with a potential max offer will be utter idiot right now to sign their extension this summer and not the next. Like DMO.
THANK you. Glad someone else sees through this. Remember cyberx posting how the Lakers manipulated the media into spreading the word about Julius Randle's medical history or injury, and he slid to them at #7?
I don't understand why people are so keen on determining Dragic's value right now. If we trade for Dragic, one of two things will happen. One, he'll blow up and play like a max player, leading to team success in the playoffs, and we happily, merrily give him the max. Two, he'll play like this year's Phoenix Dragic, good but not great player. The Rockets fail in the playoffs as a result. Then, either we pay him his market value at less than max, or he leaves. His value is still to be determined and whatever the result be, the Rockets can decide in the offseason what they should propose to pay him.
...but that still doesn't give Chicago a reason to trade him. and if he signed with houston outright on a one year deal, they wouldn't have his bird rights.
Paying Dragic the max would definitely make not signing Lowry in the summer look a lot worse. They might have been able to even fit in Durant at Lowry's relatively low salary.
On this team, as currently constructed, absolutely. It locks us into championship contention for the duration of Dwight's contract.
Haha, I guess he is as good as Kyle but why did his other stats other than occasional scoring not show it?
I'm with you 100%...so do you think Morey has the green light to trade for dragic and then resign him for ~19MM?
