If Kmarts in the deal I hope we are talking about getting Paul and Okeafor. Okeafor is needed too as a backup to make or Center and powerfoward lineup deep. That way we we gain depth at those positions while losing strength and the SG position. The tradeoff would be worth it with Yao back and added Miller in the mix. Then we could just slide Ariza over and Budinger stays the backup. We still have solid depth and instant contender for the title.

    Lineup looke like
    Yao/ Okeafor/ Miller
    Scola/ Okeafor
    Battier/Budinger
    Ariza/Budinger/JT
    Paul/Lowry

That sounds like a 60 win team potentially.

All but Yao are expendable at this point in time, even though Morey doesn't know it! :p

Why is there already talk of trading Martin? Just two seasons ago the guy averaged 10 plus free a throws a game. He's not afraid of contact. Teams are going to be much more reluctant to front Yao. If you front Yao, you deny him the ball, but leave your center unable to provide rim protection. I can't wait see the Yao/Martin/Brooks combo after about 20 games. I think Yao comes back like he never left, but it will take awhile to learn to mesh. I wouldn't be surprised to see the team look offensively lost at first. But there is too much talent and too good of a coach for it last. 55+ wins is probably even with a slow start. Definitely going to be a fun season.

Is it really still on July?

I really, really, really want to see what Brooks, Martin, Lowry, and Budinger can do during an entire season together.

KMArt is a 20 ppg scorer for each of the last 4 years. Guys like this are not that easy to find. I'm not sure that CP3 can replace the offense lost if we give up these two. We'd have to find an athletic SG who can shoot to be his wing man. I don't think we need CP3 at the expense of Brooks and Martin, just to pass the ball to Yao and Scola in the post.

CP3 is easily worth giving up Brooks and Martin. CP3 is one of the top 5 players in the entire league.

CP3 and Budinger would be a good combo

    Yao / Miller
    Scola / Patterson
    Ariza / Battier
    Budinger / Taylor
    Paul / Lowry

    This is a WCF team.

He went from a number one option to a number three behind Brooks and Scola. I wouldn't read much past the preface quite yet. Yao changes everything. Martin probably will not score 20 PPG with our starters being so offensively deep. We have 4 legit starting scorers, 2 proven elite defenders, a reliable bench, finally two 7 footers for rim protection, no egos, an proven coaching stuff, an owner willing to spend money, and a genius GM. I think this team will be top 3 by the end of the season.

I love Kevin Martin. Excellent shooter, draws a ton of fouls, good team player, seems to like being in Houston. However, if you have a chance to get a great two way player like CP, you have to do it. He's a guy that can create at the end of the game, plays great defense, great competitor.

Don't think the Hornets would be interested in K. Mart unless they have another team to send him to. They are trying to dump salary. My guess it they'd ask for some combo of Hill, Budinger, Mr. Potato Head, draft picks, and maybe Brooks.

Budinger wouldnt totally thrive at SG more than SF, but he is not just a slasher and wouldnt embarrass himself at SG. Next to Yao's height and Scola's hard work, Budinger shooting jumpers off screens is one of the purest elements of the offense. Plus Budinger might be a slightly passer than Martin already, and definitely has better handles than Ariza.

Wafer's ROOKIE year compared to Taylor's rookie year wasnt even close to Taylor's. Though Wafer was drafted at a younger age than Taylor and was never a rotation player until he got to the Rockets, it was Wafer's 4th year when he came around. So Taylor can be given some extra time too

Taylor is actually head of Wafer after the same number of games played in their career at a similar age.

Are you under the impression Ariza and Battier can't hold down the wings with Yao coming back to protect the paint?

Wiith adding Paul while keeping Kevin Martin, with Yao at 90% capacity and with Chris Paul feeding Martin open looks, Martin could have a huge bust-out year like Peja Stojakovic years back when he finished 4th in MVP voting.

If it should EVEN matter, Chris Paul is NOT an Adelman offense type of player. If Tim Hardaway and McGrady makes Adelman wince, his head would explode with the Chris Paul ball dominating way of play.

    K-mart's game as a 2 needs a 1 and a 3 who are a little tougher(Lowry,Battriza)

The formula has worked before wth Iverson as a 2 with Eric Snow and Aaron McKie as the 1 and 3 respectively.

It would be interesting to see how he meshes with Yao. He could be a nice piece on a playoff team...definitely not a max guy...
