I'm not too concerned about highway cruising. I don't have to get on the freeways in Austin that often anymore. Even then, everyone is pretty much driving under the speed limit, so it isn't an issue anyway. I will check out the 500's though.

The first battle is to convince my wife that this is a good idea.

I'm considering carpooling... Or driving halfway to work, leaving my car at the bf's house, and riding the bus the other half of the way.

I got a v8 jeep grand cherokee cuz of the gas prices :) . a friend of mine couldn't afford it anymore cuz he commutes so he sold to to me for unbelievably cheap.

it's awesome. i've never driven a v8 on a regular basis before. compared the the 4 bangers i usually own, the jeep is smmoooothe and powerful. plus, i only live 3 miles and i've got an accord for longer trips.

At what point do the SUV and truck prices get low enough to where it is actually cost effecient to get one? If an SUV is discounted a huge amount due to slow sales, that can easily purchase the extra cost of gas for the next few years.

i have a turbo charged car with bigger injectors and a custom tune so yes, i have changed my driving habits...

i have changed the stock turbo to a much bigger and more exciting turbo...if i can stay out of "boost" (making the turbo spool up) i can get about 245 miles out of my 14 gallon tank...

if i "boost" on a consistent basis i "may" get about 200 a tank...my car is running on 750CC injectors...i drive it like a grandma now...i still won't sell it or go back to stock though...
