Is Galveston better at preserving history than houston?

    Maybe Houston would get more tourism if it tried to preserve its history. Wasn't a section of town call Freedman's Town where former slaves settled after the Civil War demolished in the last decade?

    I mean I get it, Houston is never gonna be confused with Rome history-wise but Galveston incorporated a few years after Houston and its history is very apparent by comparison. Even Las Vegas, which was founded only a little over 100 years ago, has some historic hotels such as the Flamingo.

    Houston's Museum District is bigger than downtown Dallas.

    That's great but what does that have to do with Houston history (and I mean history actually made in the city or built in it)?

    The Astrodome is still there.
