Dead? Nah.... things are always in flux.

Capitalism is dumb like water... it just follows the path of least resistance.

The whole definition of capitalism is building a better mouse trap.

Captialism like any system needs guard rails, right now, we are heading back to the gilded age where 10 year olds were working in the mines.

Unchecked capitalism is a terrible system that builds super wealthy and super poor and nothing in the middle.

IKE had it right...check out his tax rates....let's be like IKE.

“Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door.”

NO! It's about having the world beating a path to your door
The Mouse Trap is only a means to and end
If you can have them beat a path to your door without it. . . .YOU DO THAT

Now a days I don't need the better anything . . . i just have to market and advertise in a way that makes you think it is better
    for whatever reason

Making things BETTER has NEVER been the goal of Capitalism
    It's a biproduct at best

What's to say we "need" anything beyond basic necessities like food.

Yes people want to make money so some try to build a better mouse trap.

Edit: capitalism is natural to o the human condition

Selfishness and Self Interest is natural to the human condition
Capitalism simply leverages it to propel action

Needing or wanting to something you don't have and can't produce and exchanging something you do have or can produce is naturql to the human condition.

That's capitalism in its most basic form.

Gillain Tett of the FT lays it all out. Prob the closest critique you'll get without reading Stephen Miran's paper.
