Is Five Guys the most overrated burger joint in America?

I like the taste of the hot dog itself, and the bun is always soft and warm, almost like a fresh kolache. Perfect.

Also, I'm not quite sure what difference it makes that a hot dog is sliced down the middle...

after hearing about this place for years i finally tried it when i was out in california last month - i was so stoked to try one of their burgers and i must say i was very let down. maybe i hyped it up too much, but i was disappointed. the only thing that makes it unique is that thousand island or whatever it is on the burger and that isnt even that great, imo. the freshness of the ingredients is obvious, but that is nothing unique.

my friend was told by someone 'in the know' to get animal fries, which are not on the menu - its an order of fries w/ their special sauce and chili - it was weird.

i will say that they had possibly the cleanest fast food restaurant ive ever been in and easily the most professional and friendly staff ive seen in one.

as for 5 guys, i ate there once too and it was good, but nothing to write home about.

but the most overrated burger place ive been to is mighty fine. ate there recently too and i must say it was not much better than sonic, but cost twice as much - i got a burger, fries and lemonade and it was about $10.

best chain place is still fudruckers - as someone said, if you are going to spend $10 might as well go there. and if you live in austin you should only be eating hamburgers at casino el camino (i heard the jackalope's are really good too).

 

the answer to the question made the title of this thread is: "no. 5 guys is delicious."

 

Love the regular fries at 5 guys. Fried in peanut oil, skin on, crispy but still oily, fantastic.

Burgers are alright. But I'm not a connoisseur of burgers to start with, I seldom eat them. None blow my mind.

 

I don't know the answer to the original question, but I can say without a doubt: In-n-out is the most overrated burger on clutchfans.net

 

In-N-Out is just too mainstream now.

I was eating it back in the mid 90s.

Now its too cool, so all the food snobs are out in full force hating on it.

 

Cant stand in-n-out and love 5 guys but here in CA it costs $11 for the big burger, fries, and a drink at 5 guys and is way too expensive!

 

I had never actually heard of In-N-Out until the first time I went there about eight years ago. I thought it was ok, but nothing special even though the friend I was with had hyped it. The level of hype it receives on here is just ridiculous though.

 

whataburger gets a lot of hype here also, I don't get it either.

 

Considering the price and quality, In n out is the best fast food burger. I can understand why people think its overrated because of the hype. However, when people say that In n out tastes just like mcdonalds,JitB,BK,etc. thats when i know they are bsing

 

I just moved out to California and I'm loving In n Out burger. Double double with grilled onions and jalapenos is excellent. I also love the price and the fact that their serving sizes are reasonable. I can't stand getting a f'ing massive soda with any meal deal at other fast food restaurants. Even though I don't drink it, just looking at it bums me out. Also, I like the fact that I don't feel gross after eating at In n Out, unlike how I feel after eating at McDonalds, Burger King etc. It must be the ingredients.

 

Carl's Jr is the best period...

 

I went to five guys the other day for the first time, I don't know what y'all are talking about. It was delicious. Overpriced though.

I do like me some Fuddruckers. Jalapeño's, pico de gallo, and nacho cheese on a burger? oh mah gawd.

the buns are incredible. I always leave there in pain. It's awesome.

 

Personal preference, I guess. I like them except for being sliced up like that. Maybe I had a bad slicer!

 

The correct answer to this question is, "No, the expensive suck that is Carl's Jr. is the most overrated burger joint." If you put great vegetables on an awful burger, it's still an awful burger.

Five Guys is awesome. It's a fast food burger that's every bit as good as a good diner burger. I've only had In-and-Out in Phoenix, and it was better than say McDonald's or Carl's Jr., but it wasn't even as good as Whataburger or Sonic. I've been told by Californians that In-and-Out is better in California, and I would take their word, but they're from California and wrong about virtually everything else.

 

Wingstop has the best fries I've ever eaten. They make you feel pretty guilty after eating them though.
