That's understandable, but how many home-grown greats have Houston teams passed up? I understood the Rashard Lewis debacle at the time...but it was still painful. This one will be far more painful in the end. As for 'stupid fanboy of a college player', we watch sports for entertainment. I can count players on my hands that I would turn a game on just to watch them... Namath was the first... Elway, Montana, Earl were a few... now Vince. We're fans because he's incredibly entertaining to watch... a freak of nature and a winner. There's nothing wrong with that, nor is there anything wrong with challenging decisions made by the Texans when few seem to pan out and they continue to torture their fans.
What is a joke is stating unequivocally before the season that Vince is better than Carr. Not that he was going to be better, but that he already was. VY did well, I give him him a lot of credit for that game. But it is just one game.
I don't give a **** where he is from. I could care less about Vince Young. He means nothing to me. I want to see Mario crush him. There is no reason to turn on your home team and even taunt it and their fans. That's what is going on here. I think those posters should be banned from a Houston pro sports website.
People aren't turning on the team, they are turning on one piece of the team. These same people want the Texans to win, that is why they want an improvement at QB, an important position for the team. People want wins, can't blame them for that. If they were bad fans they wouldn't even be paying attention.
It's the same thing as the Yao bashers etc. They revel in it.They think it makes them smart. Screw them. They are not real fans and should move to Tennessee.
Mario looks real good. I'm happy with Mario. I don't think of this as a VY vs. Mario thing. The decision on VY was made when the decision was made first regarding Carr. When you decided to value Carr enough to extend him out with a long contract, you stopped looking at any QB on the board. That was the mistake, in my view. But that has nothing to do with Mario. Mario will have impact. But the VY thing will never go away. Many of the VY supporters said that in the months leading up to the draft. That this would be a decision that would haunt the Texans for years to come. I still believe that's true.
MR. MEOWGI is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time & space. He experiences Houston sports teams as something separated from the rest, a kind of homerism of his consciousness. This homerism is a kind of prison, restricting him to his parochial desires and to affection for a few players nearest to him. His task must be to free himself from this prison by widening his circle of fandom to embrace all living creatures & the whole of nature in its beauty.
MR. MEOWGI has had a rough couple of years and gets his feathers ruffled too easy on a sports BBS. Censorship now, sheesh.
Mario blew past D'Brick early in the game opening things up for Maddox for the sack, the Jets then double teamed him using the TE and FB at times. Teams are starting to double team Mario, it's up to the other DL to step up to the opportunity.
I'm starting to agree with you. VY is probably my favorite college football player of all-time, but I'm starting to want to root for him as much as I want to root for Bush.
That's not the issue here. Are you trying to rephrase your original comment? Let me remind you... My response was that it's not a joke. And I know it's just one game. He has a long way to go, but indications are that his killer instinct looks like will carry over to the pros.
Well that's where you and I apparently differ. You will apparently only support guys, few of which are from Texas, who get paid to play here. I also elect to support Texan and Houstonian athletes who are from here. Weren't many Texans proud about Lance's success? VY never killed your dog, so I think you need to look at your own personal issues to understand why you despise him. He loves Houston and wanted desperately to play here, willing to forgo the last year of college to give the Texans a shot at him... well he just sucks for that, huh? Your hang-up with VY has become comical. Throwing 'Man Love' and 'Mancrush' around like it's supposed to hurt the other poster, but it only makes you look like a bitter, homophobic hater.
I do not despise VY at all. I'm just not in love and with the guy like people here. What I hate is every team that is not the Texans. This is the NFL. VY is not on the Texans, that's all there is to it. I hope Mario Williams body slams Vince Young as hard as possible. Homophobic? If you want to be in love with another man that is great. I have no problem with that. Seriously, I think you should celebrate your man love as much as possible. If this love makes you a Titan fan so be it, but you are still "in bed" with the enemy and will be treated as such.
And you know what? Mario isn't even 100% healthy. He's got that plantier thingy that I don't know how to spell. Our defense has improved a LOT since that debacle against the Redskins. I think it has to do with Mario as much as anybody, even if the stats don't show it.
Dude...chill. Every person that lives in Houston is not a fan of the Houston Texans. A ton of folks here aren't even from here. Besides, this is a Houston Rockets board, not a Houston Texans one, so you shouldn't be suprised a lot of folks don't care about the team.
given the circumstances, your criticism of young is over the top most of the time already suggesting he might be benched. I'm not upset, its funny.
What do you want me to say? The joke was Justice saying Young was better than Carr before Young had even practiced in an NFL uniform. After this week, it looks like Young is improving, but last week he looked pretty bad. I posted that message last week and no one quibbled with it until VY had a big game this week, now you're bringing it up. I think everyone agreed at that point that VY looked like he was behind, which appears, for now, to be an incorrect assessment.
