The arm? Come on, the guy played it all through College, same exact dimensions as the pros.

You don't need a cannon to play SS if you have quick hands and release.

Actually, if horrid is the worst you can be, he is a step above that. Cristian Guzman is horrid. :)

David Eckstein has no arm at all and he plays shortstop for the best team in baseball.

Everett is a great fielder, and makes it look a lot easier then it really is. His bat will come around, it's not like we are paying him freaking millions to play there. Ensberg, Berkman, Taveras and Lane are our future offensive machines, there is plenty of room for Burke and Everett in our lineup.

He's not "the" problem but as long as we have Everett and Ausmus back to back we are going to have some struggles on offense.

Everett isn't irreplaceable. If we can find a better SS at a decent price we should go for it.

I don't understand why he is such a DUMB hitter. He won't take a walk or hit to right. If/when he hits as headily as he runs the bases and fields he'll be an asset. Until then he is still not 'the problem', not at all.

This is what I don't get, his hands are golden, he should get wood on the ball a lot more than he does.

PS. He did score the 3rd run tonight.

everett is the better SS, period. i like viz but everett is the better defender and their bats are both pretty poor this season, so i'll go with the defense since neither one is really better offensively.

No patience, no smarts at bat. Look at Ausmus' annual turnarounds, he makes his AGs work for him (at least as far as he can). When AE learns to he'll be betgter than OK.
