Dirk is better than him, but not by much. I think he is better than Roy and Anthony as well. He has made huge strides.

Durant has improved so much that he has put himself in the conversation as a top 5 player. Not sure about the Howard hate. I dont see him as a top 5 player but that doesn't mean I hate him or his game. If he could develop some kind of offensive game outside of dunks, he could be great.

He can't bench press 185 lb as a starting NBA SF. Anyone touches him and shoots free throws. You wonder why this team beat the Rockets this season? Officials.

If you sneeze on this kid he gets free throws. In his last three games he has averaged 14 FTA per game (15, 16, and 11). In the season he has averaged over 10 FTA per game. Durant would be in pieces if he earned 11 FTs every game this season. All of these foul shots keep his FG% high because he is an excellent free throw shooter.

It's close but not yet. He's still behind the NBA's cream of the crop (LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Dwight, CP3), IMO. That means he's somewhere in the mix with the 6-10 guys (Roy, Dirk, Melo, Bosh, etc -- in no particular order). If we're discussing "tie-breakers" it doesn't help KD's case that the defense simply isn't there yet. Sure, he's having an MVP-caliber season but it seems anytime I watch him play he looks borderline helpless or uninterested defensively. That said, it gives me no pleasure to criticize KD's game given how much I like him as a player. I just can't erase the thought of Scotty Brooks having to switch KD onto Mike Bibby (of all people) earlier this season because he was THAT unable to guard anybody out there.

YEAH. It really really annoys me about how people are basing their opinions on the media which says "Dwight has no offense" or "Dwight isn't serious enough"

And then the same people says "lol media sucks. they don't know the Rockets."

    but it's not just that.

it's funny to me to see people not have dwight as a top 5 player.

    leading his team in ppg
leading the league in fg pecentage
    leading the league in rebounds
leading the league in blocked shots.
defensive player of the year and possibly another defensively player of the year award.
and lead his team to the NBA FINALS.

but he's not top 5 because he "has to post moves"?

    laughable.

This might be the single dumbest post in BBS history. Um, free throws are not included in field goal percentage...

Somewhere out there Blazer fans are crying. I remember seeing these billboards in Portland back when I lived out there:

    Yes.

In fact, I think you can even make the case that he's better than anybody but James, but I'll wait until the playoffs before I start going that far.

I wanted Durant bad and I knew he was going to be special. Most of my friends and everybody else in Portland wanted Oden. I do question whether Roy and Durant would have been able to co-exist and both blossom into the superstars they are today. I realize Roy is a 2 and Durant is a tall 3 but their games are really repetitive and they both need the ball to be effective.

Yep, I remember at work all those idiot Blazer fans clamoring about how athletic Oden was, and that you can't pass on the big man. After watching Durant all season long at Texas, I knew he was a can't miss prospect. Pairing him with Roy would have been like a Jordan-Pippen combo. Roy could have played point forward like Pippen did for the Bulls.

Picking Oden even after all his injury issues was simply inexcusable.

Its close, but I would rather have howard and paul before durant. I don't know why people keep underestimating his impact on the game.

LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Nowitzki, and Howard, for me.

Imagine something like, instead of Team USA, or Team Germany, or Team China.

And have like, Team NBA vs the world.

    Scary.

    Paul / Williams / Nash
    Bryant / Wade
    James / Durant
    Nowitzki / Duncan
    Howard / Yao
