Are you saying if McCain served his tour without being captured he would get the same attention and recognition he does for being a former POW?
I'm saying Mccain got recognition because of what he did after he got captured not because he got captured. I'm also saying that when you deal with if you can infinitely say if for anything. Like what if he didn't get captured and he flew missions that earned him the same amount of valor. What if he died before he got captured we wouldn't even be talking about John Mccain, what if your mommy and daddy never had sex, I would be talking to myself right now, lol. Get it?
Once McCain was captured he refused to cooperate with the VC even though he was tortured repeatedly. He also was given the option to leave but would not without the other POWs being released as well. Do you know for sure you could withstand torture and a POW camp in the middle of the jungle when you could go home by either providing intelligence or later by simply leaving? Other POWs did cooperate and some did go home and leave their brothers behind. I am not a huge support of McCain but the war hero thing is getting absurd. He had it bad ... His body is still messed up, he spent years starving and tortured. He made a big sacrifice that most of us don't have to.... While Trump was claiming a bone spur McCain was battling malaria.
If Hitler had been accepted into art school... If Genghis Khan had fallen off of his horse... If Santa Ana hadn't been taking a nap.... This is a pointless exercise and doesn't help you make a point.
I don't think Trump seriously wants to be president. He's doing this to pump up his own ego and brand but he hasn't done any of the serious stuff like setting up a national campaign with offices in most states. Trump has made a lot of noise but I think was always pretty much finished as a serious candidate.
Trump isn't beholden to someone else with pocket books bankrolling his campaign. Basically he can just say whatever he pleases and never apologize and this is exactly what the Republicans seem to like. He is going to absolutely demolish the other Republican candidates. In reality, what the hell does Jeb Bush or Scott Walker bring to the table? Do they really think they can go head on with the Trump media machine? Those two are about as interesting as dry paint. Trump is in this thing to win it (win the Republican nomination that is no way he can win the presidency). No way the Republicans go after the "sensible" choice again (after Mitt Romney the ultimately sensible candidate got slaughtered in 2012). The Repub voters I think will talk themselves into the flash once Trump really gets going. Just imagine the campaign right now, usually these guys run big money ads in important states slandering one another. What good does that do when Trump is FRONT PAGE news week after week. He is the villain candidate, the harder they go at painting him as the villain, the stronger he gets.

McCain is not a war hero by any stretch of the imagination. We're talking about a guy who mostly bombed civilian targets, was captured but because of his father was considered high value and treated well by the Viet Cong, and on top of that by his own admission, he collaborated with the enemy. And afterwards, he obstructed investigations into missing POWs What exactly did he do to deserve all those medals?
Which makes him much more like the types of people who "bankroll" campaigns: given their lack of empathy, patience or humility in dealing with opposing perspectives and interests of people from different social groups and subordinate economic standing. It explains why most CEOs, celebrities or billionaires demur from running for public office; and why Trump, despite being in one of the most politically engaged cities and states in the country, would never have the balls to run for a borough presidency, council post or state assembly seat, and would probably have been publicly shamed by likes of Koch, Green, Dinkins, Giuliani or De Blasio in debates, by the local media in interviews and press conference, and: in the unlikely case of an election, recalled at the first chance. Trump's arrogance, disengagement is even more galling when you contrast him against a similarly moneyed and commercially successful, but infinitely more competent and principled politician like Michael Bloomberg.
You should be ashamed of yourself. McCain deserves a tremendous amount of respect for volunteering to serve his country and even more so for what he endured as a POW. It's not his call who to bomb and not bomb as a fighter pilot. If you want to attack McCain the politician then go right ahead but this what did he do to deserve all those medals thing is just sick. You sound like Bobby.
Donald is not finished. He is the embodiment of the confusion and rage of the Tea Party types who know they are hurting and are starting realize that Bush III, Walker, Cruz and the rest of the corporate types are not the answer.
