These are the ridiculous Convo's i'm hearing up here in dallas from their fans.. I understand, you just win a title, so the "top 10" talk heats up… But i say, Look at the numbers and you will see, Dirk isn't even close to being a top 10 nba player.

In the 2011 NBA Finals Dirk averaged 26.0ppg 9.7rpg and 2 assists, those are some Pedestrian numbers for a guy that "carried" his team of just "role players" like all dallas fans wanna say.. they are saying NO ONE has ever carried their team to a title Like Dirk did in 2011.. let's take a deeper look..

    MJ- 91-31.2 92-35.8 93-41.0 96-27.3 97-32.3 98-33.5

now i know i'm using MJ as my first example, but the reason why is this, If Dirk had no #2 at all, then why aren't his numbers better than MJ?? i mean MJ had Pippen, and Pippen didn't average anything better than 19 in their run together so if Dirk was this one man show then where the numbers to back it up?? so now let's look at the "he got doubled all game" defense…

Dirk averaged 2 assists is all.. just 2…

    Hakeem- 1994 stats- 26.9ppg 9.1rpg 3.9blk 1995- 32.8ppg 11.5rpg 5.5 asst 2blk

    Duncan- 99- 27ppg 14rpg 2blk 2003- 24.2ppg 17rpg 5.3assts 5.3blks 2005- 20ppg 14rpg 2blk

    Shaq- 2000- 38ppg 16.7rpg 2.7blk 2001- 33ppg 15rpg 4.8assts 3.4blks 200236ppg 12rpg 2blk

    Bird- 1981- 15ppg 15rpg 7assts 1984- 27ppg 14rpg 3assts 1986- 24ppg 9rpg 9assts

So with these stats u decide.. If someone carried their team, and had no #2 like all these guys supposedly had.. then where are the dominant numbers to back up this claim?? i mean, if he got doubled all game, why did he only average 2 assists a game? the only numbers that are even close to resembling Dirk's are Hakeem's 1994 stat line.. and that was the year we all say Dream had just role players, yet the next season with Clyde, he averages even better numbers… to me it's simple, if all the load is on one man's back and he does win a NBA title, his numbers would reflect it… MJ dropped 41ppg 8rp, 6assts in the 1993 nba finals.. yet he had Pippen?? how can someone have the best #2 of all time and put up almost Double what Dirk did, yet Dirk carried his team??

I say, Dallas had a Better "TEAM"… Dirk isn't a guy that can carry the load by himself.. he is great i agree, but he had a very deep team… not just himself and himself alone..

Dirk is an all time great, top 50 for sure, but top 10? No way.

Top 10 shooter. Average everywhere else.

Weigh that out and you get somewhere in the 40 range.

i agree he is top 50 no doubt.. People up here have him as the second best PF EVER.. they say it's Timmy D then Dirk?? go back and look at McHale's numbers in some of those 80's Finals…. Mchale was actually the Lead scorer i believe in a couple of their Finals

    Top 10 PF? EASILY.

Top 15 player? Don't think I would put him over (in no order) MJ, Dream, KAJ, Bird, Magic, Shaq, Chaimberlin, Russell, Duncan, Moses, KB24, Oscar, Dr. J, Baylor, Isiah.

As far as top 20 goes, he'd hafta beat out one of the above 15 along with (in no order) KG, Havlicek, West, Pettit, Hayes. Which I do not think he does to be honest.

I guess I'd put him 20-25 range, competing with guys like Karl Malone (UGH), Stockton (UGH), Gervin, Barkley, McHale. I guess I'd put Dirk in the middle of that group (sooo 23? 24?)

He's probably in the top 25, but definitely not in the top 10.

Dirk is my favorite player of all time. But he's top 20 at best. And that's NOTHING to be ashamed of.

How about that MJ stat line.. simply amazing what he did in 1993… i laugh when people wanna even compare Kobe to MJ…. the numbers MJ put up over 6 titles dwarf what Kobe did… Numbers are power, and people usually try to use their opinion to dominate a discussion… and after looking up all the great NBA Finals performances i will never agree with ANY MAVS fan that says Dirk Carried his team… 26 a game and only 2assists is not carrying anything..

Dirk carried his team TO the finals. It was much more even once they got there.
