One of the reasons Andersen didn't want to go to the Hawks was playing time. Based on precedent, I think he'll expect to play, but to do so would be at the expense of better players.

I imagine Morey will look toward using Andersen in "bigger" trades first (e.g, Iggy), but he's definitely redundant with Miller on-board.

No amount of statistical data can prevent DA from getting his ass shipped back to Australia. He sucks. End of story.

I don't think he's as bad as some on here make him out to be. That being said, he's really gonna have to step it up to be able to stick around.
There are A LOT of good players at the PF position and that's not even taking in financial condiderations, which is the main reason I believe he will be traded.

He's gonna be a victim of numbers either way.

i think he's got nowhere to go but up at this point. Scola improve significantly his second year once he got situated, so i expect significant improvemnt out of DA as well, but i think he'll need training camp, preseason, and then half the year, since he's not getting as much PT as Scola did. That being said, im not sure he can improve enough to stick on this team after drafting PP, acquiring hill, and signing Miller. Not to mention with the return of Yao. If there's a big trade involving one or two of our back ups then he may be useful.

However, he may just be the kind of player you need to pair up with a dwight howard or amar'e type (not necessarily as good , but that type as in athletic, physical, and experienced). Next to Yao their wont be enough quickness laterally or vertically in the frontcourt. Same with scola. With Hill or PP there's too much inexperience and rawness.

They should ship him to Orlando, they may bite on a 7 foot "pf" who can hit the three.

Too bad DA couldn't shoot a little better from three point range. He could have been this teams Matt Bullard. I actually think he can do a little more than Bullard in most areas. He shot almost 35% from 3pt range last season, which was fourth best on the team. I could see the Rockets keeping Anderson if they get rid of Hill. He could be a backup at PF or Center. I think he would look a lot better playing with Yao or Miller in the middle.

A lot of people owe Aussie Rocket or whoever it was that told us that this was a bad move by the Rockets an apology.

He has a decent post-up game, as well...

If they ship out Jeffries and one of the young PFs in a trade, he could possibly stick around.

I just think with the financial impact, he's probably gone...

Maybe...can we really say he made no significant contribution to the rockets' season though? That's pretty much what aussie rocket guaranteed. Maybe we should wait and see what they do with him this season.

Kwame: He got 14 mpg, not great. But exactly what can you fairly expect to get out of a $2.3 million player? Who would the Rockets have signed with that same $2.3 mil that would have clearly contributed more and made the difference between, say, 9th place and 8th place in the West?

A few of your cheap signinings might be significant contributors, but most won't. That's why they are cheap. Andersen is no more a "mistake" than Joey Dorsey or Steve Novak was. Just the odds playing themselves out.

Morey has said repeatedly that the ROX take each player and look at them in light of a "4-year outlook". Also take into consideration that DA is a Euro and playing out of position since the original intent was to be able to bring him in with Yao as a stretch 4 in certain situations.

There are players like Kandiman that are complete busts, but there are also players like Reddick that take several years to find their way in the NBA. DA just finished his first season with the Rox. His international resume cites him as a winner everywhere he goes. We should at least wait until the end of this season to gauge his true worth.

    Kind of.
Or....not really. Seems like a nice guy based on interviews, but doesn't do to much in the actual game. Does have one thing in common with Scola though....they both have been D-Fished. Well, Kidd on this one though...but you get the analogy.

Failed move to sign him to that contract to be a CENTER. Rockets also paid 2 mil for his contract rights, so he's more at 2 years 3.5 mil a season.

He has some slightly useful attributes at the PF position. Andersen is a good DEFENSIVE rebounder (not offensive, probably cuz he's an outside shooter). Andersen finally started hitting that NBA 3 ball before he was out with "back spasms" (more like tank spasms)

I'd like to see what a stretch forward can do for Yao Ming. Creating all kinds of space to operate. Something like Ryan Anderson for the Magic does.
