Is Daryl Morey coming back next year?

I just don't see him coming back. At what point does Houston finally admit boy wonder is still a boy?

He's done admirably well from a statistical analysis, business, and effort perspective. However, his business approach has alienated free agents, his players, and many Houston fans. No one wants a 500 win product on the court for the next ten years.

I believe Les Alexander may be handcuffing him from making the decisions he might want to do in order to win later, rather than now, but Les isn't going to fire himself. Sh** flows downhill and Morey is going to have to be responsible.

After so many free agent periods, trade deadlines, and drafts that have slightly improved the team, the team is still pretty much going to be around a 500 win team without any significant upgrades.

I hope I eat my words and D12 is here after the trade deadline, but that's not happening. Unless management's approach changes, I would be surprised if we could convince Kwame Brown to sign next year.

Does he also have a contract like coaches/players, or is he an employee that will stick around until he's fired or he resigns?

yeah, some fans dont like this deal being brought up, but i think that deal goes on Morey's resume anyway, and Les knows this. Can't see him getting fired right now, middle of the next season, at the earliest, but probably next summer, if things go downhill.

I wouldn't fire him right now...but the product sucks. It's clearly not compelling to ticket buyers and TV viewers. Hell, TNT and ESPN avoid them like the plague. I'm not sure how long that lasts until the buck finally stops with the guy on top.

Ironically, if you fire Daryl Morey, it will be the wrong move yet will improve our chances of becoming contenders....the only reason we haven't plummeted in the standings to get a high draft pick is because of Daryl Morey.

He'll be back for at least another year.

Morey's big failing as a GM is also one of his best features: His reluctance to make the crazy big move.

He's been close a few times, but has yet to really throw caution to the wind and RISK something significant in order to maybe gain something transcendent. That conservative approach has also kept us from having any really dismal seasons under DM's tenure.

he was what, the only person in the world who thought trading for lowry was worth it, that alone could have plummeted us to sub 30 wins last season.

When Daryl was asked months ago when his contract was up he didnt even know for sure. He's not going anywhere for awhile.

Has the trade deadline passed or something for you to make this assumption? Premature thread. Wait till tomorrow before you wet yourself.

If your upset about the Bogut deal, Monte is far superior than anything we were offering. So the Bucks took the better deal as they should have.

Getting Beasly isnt the "Splash" move we are waiting for. and no other deal has taken place for us to be pissed about. So please wait.

It would be a big mistake to let Morey walk away.

So basically, you're saying Morey should be fired because Dwight Howard isn't a Houston Rocket?

GTFO, a different GM will be able to convince Dwight Howard to stop thinking about glamour markets and go to the Houston Rockets? The players worth watching on the team were all obtained by Morey, nobody even gave guys like Lowry or Parsons a 2nd look, and yet here they are proving everybody wrong.

Also, for all the bellyaching you have and everybody else is making about how the products sucks and all that BS, guess what, that's what generally happens when your two Max FAs fall off the face of the earth. Even if no changes are made, we're gonna see a top 5 pick next (aka Donatas motiejunas) and the Knicks lottery pick falling into our lap.

If he's not back, it is because Boston doubles his salary, and Les is too cheap to match.

So we can hire some other GM to abide by Les' philosophy and sit in mediocrity?

What GM would have pulled off us getting a superstar since the beginning of last season (when we had the resources to do so)?

That works nicely. If he can't get his Big Deal this trade deadline or offseason, he'll enter next season with a lame duck contract and nothing to show. It seems reasonable his contract would not be renewed if he comes up empty.

I have no problem with the job Morey has done so far. Doubt very much anybody else would have done better.
