Morey didn't injure CP's hamstring, and he didn't wreck T-Mac's or Yao's knees either. Without injuries we might have 2 titles in the last 10 years. Winning a title requires a ton of things, good scouting 9 years prior, good trades 3 years prior, favorable ownership, good coaching, lucky breaks (on court), lucky breaks (in opposing players' knees), lucky breaks (with lotto odds), a great draft class or transcendent player present when you win the lottery, incompetence by other GMs, and for the refs to allow you to win/rig it for you.
Sure. There are contenders who were not dynasties like the 2011 Mavs, they had a nice team with shooters but were not a 100% favorite as GSW was or LA with Shaq in the previous years. One time wonder Ponies. I think building a dynasty is lot harder for a GM to achieve. Luck and Timing are other things for sure. Especially if you did not go heavily thru the Draft.
There are many factors the GM does not control. Just on top of my head: 1. The team you inherit 2. The owner's wishes 3. Strength of draft class when you have good picks 4. Injuries 5. Existence of superteam(s)
You’re looking to the past. What they have been. Morey is trying to reinvent them. It’s a risk I’m not saying that it isn’t but when faced with the luxury tax you have to be creative. Morey has a better track record than any other Gm of doing so. He made Chuck Hayes a thing, when no one wanted him in the league. He reinvented PJ Tucker as a center. Give it time let’s see if the reinvention can work.
Incoming CF neckbeards that will defend the FO/players over anything. Harden is the only reason were watching this team. Everything around him is an absolute joke
Extremely overrated who go lucky off the backs of cheap ownership in OKC. The same GM who didn’t want Capela to come over to the states
