funny how utah thought they could play their two bigs together and that's one of the reasons they were down 3-0

MDA didn't play Manimal only 5 minutes. He played him only 5 minutes WITH a crippled Capela playing 27 minutes and PJ taking the rest at center.

Ok, yes, Faried's defense is not good. Why it can't be improved with some extra quality time with our defensive specialist assistant coach is beyond me, but that's another topic.

However, in this game, the choice wasn't some nuanced decision about defense. It was a choice between something and nothing. D'Antoni chose nothing. But still made Nothing play heavy minutes while horribly sick which I doubt is good for his recovery. And made PJ hopelessly try to do anything against Gobert and Favors.

If Popovich was going to choose to set up a throwaway game, he would've rested players in the process. MDA made that choice but then did the exact opposite of resting players.

I like Faried but too many times he ends up rotating to the same player some other guy is already rotating too. It's crazy how he can't get the principles down for defense. He truly is a liability out there. On the bright side we might be able to keep him for the minimum next year.

Mike, Dan, and Tony, along with Faried should be studying how Montrezl is killing the Worriers. The Lou Will and Montrezl PNR is DESTROYING the Worries. Gotta run that over and over until they stop it.

In my opinion, Lou is playing at superstar level in the games where this is true. The Warriors are playing reasonably good defense and Williams is making running, leaning, fadaway two point jumpers. What he is doing is crazy. I don't think it's sustainable.

On the other hand, it's true that they don't seem to have a way to stop Montrezl's energy and physicality. That should definitely be a signal to the Rockets.

I'm confused by your reply as we just got Faried a couple of months ago?

confused that Houston's gives GS a healthy dose of pnr's for several years? When lou is playing like he did in game 5, all the GS is doing is the same thing they do to harden. doubling him off the pick and trying to trap. then to counter they make the reads to the middle. its no secret this is what you have to do in that instant. those are pages from houston's book clearly

This is a Faried thread and I'm bringing up Montrezl's usage and sets so we use Faried the same way because Dubs can't handle. I'm not talking about generic PnR we've used over the last few years. That's why I'm confused why you want to discuss PnR with different personal in a Faried thread.

huh? Just because its a Faried thread doesn't take anything away form what I posted. Faried or capela or nene would be doing what trez is in that role. that's not some secret. houston has been doing it for years with their bigs. Generic pnr? are the clippers doing some kind of special pnr that's different?

the rockets have actually done it so much that the warriors made it a specific tactic to limit this very action when playing houston last year, now that they have to worry about two elite pnr guards

Play Faried at PF not at center specially if the opponent center is tall and athletic.. Nene as backup center.
