Is CPA worth it if I only desire to stay in the Private Sector?

I don't know how motivated you are when you need to ask if you should do the CPA? If you did any research at all you'd know obviously its worth it, best of luck, its not hard, but lack of motivation can be a b****.

you dont need that. Just go to accounttemps and they get you a nice gig at an oil and gas company.

You need a masters' or graduate certificate program to get 30 accounting hours for the CPA.

You can probably handle the CFA if you're willing to put in the time and shell out the cash for all three levels of testing and study materials; also you're already in a better position to get trading, risk management or energy business development/project valuation jobs since you have math, software and analytical capabilities nobody told finance undergrads to get in the late '90s.

I would separately advise you to just aggressively contact smaller midstream companies in San Antonio and Houston, as well as some energy investment banks.
