I think the Rockets made a mistake by telling Capela to put weight on. He needed to stay slim to utilize his speed against bigger centers. Now that he's gained weight that speed is no longer a advantage. I still think the Rockets need to upgrade eventually

False. Capela puts on weight every summer, looks sluggish every preseason, and then adjusts to the weight as he gets games in. He is faster up and down the court than most starting C's. He jumps higher than half the starters in league, and does more with that vertical ability than players more athletic than him.

I think he's at the perfect build now. He can shift focus to improving his stamina at this point. He's already done wonders improving his strength, free throw shooting and touch around the basket. Even seen him driving with power a couple of times.

How can he focus on stamina if he's 10-15 pounds heavier? That defeats the purpose. The Rockets rely on Clint's speed & ability to roll aggressively to the basket. That roll will open up shots because teams don't wanna give up the lob. If Clint's a half step slower it'll throw the whole offense off. He looked extremely sloppy & sluggish at times in the preseason. That extra weight can also make him more prone to injury which is what we don't need. Clint should've not put that much weight on

    Sweet Jesus, Thank you Mathloom.

He looks like this literally every preseason, and still the same buffoons come out to say the same stupid ****, a few months after he was leading the playoffs in blocks and rebounds, and putting in serious work on Pau and Lamarcus. It was NOT our interior defense that caused us to lose against the Spurs. ANYONE that watched those games could see that.

It's not weight, it's muscle, for guys like Steven Adams.

Big guys always come into camp bigger and stronger, and take a month or so to round into basketball shape. It is 100 percent normal at all levels of basketball. Very soon, he will be faster, stronger and more athletic than he ever was at any point in his career. It is a process and one of those that every single young big has to go through. It IS possible to put on muscle and retain your athleticism. As of now, he is burning off the excess mass, and building up the stamina again. In a few weeks he will have gained 5-7 pounds in muscle, whilst having all his previous athleticism, If not more.

Young bigs take extra time to develop, and this is a huge factor. Very soon we will have a 6-10, 245lb beast patrolling the lane and switching pick and rolls, who is perfect for our system, and perfect for the Pelicans system If Cuz becomes available.

Pretty interesting the poll is split both ways but nobody wanted to part ways with Capela + ARIZA for Melo.

Weight and stamina are different things. He will adjust to the weight as he always does and in fact due to his body type he will lose some mass over the course of the season. He did exactly the right thing imo. We'll see.

Yes we'll see. I want Clint to take that next step. He's a good center, but idk if he's the center of the future

I think Capela + Ryno would have gotten the deal done, no need to include a guy like Ariza.
To be honest though, I was hesitant early in the summer to part with Clint for Melo, but once he ended up in OKC it made me wish we had upped our offer. I did want us to sign McGee at one point in the summer just to have him replace Clint and then we can get Melo.

    Ahh well.

K Clint, think what you want.

Still not in condition to weather 30mpg, play against legit starting lines, and catch the ball.

Clint was the 22 year old starter on team that won 55 games in the west with just James Harden and some regular role players. He's doing fine lol

    WE NEED A DEFENSIVE ANCHOR.

this is why Capela isn't the best fit but serviceable fit.
