China isn't going to take the risk of invading Taiwan -- the island is an absolute nightmare for a landing force and that's without outside assistance. Add in support from the US, Japan and others and it becomes impossible for China.

Is Nancy Pelosi more popular than Jeremy Lin at the moment in Taipei?

Exactly. Reminds me of Biden's horrible idea in November 2021 to put together a "Strategic Cooperation Agreement" with Ukraine to pave the way for them to join NATO... which then led to Russia invading Ukraine. Completely avoidable. Here we go again, this time with China.

Every foreign policy instinct this Administration has is completely backwards. Worst foreign policy in decades -- and that's saying something.

What did this trip do other than her own reputation and legacy.

This was all about Nancy being a bad b*itch and showing off her power.

    ...

I should add that watching China get worked up over Taiwan never gets old.

...and gave Afghanistan to the Taliban who promptly invited Al Queda to set up shop again.

Safe to assume her husband has some stock trade that benefits in some way.

Some of you have some serious revisionist history going on. It was Trump who signed the peace deal with the Taliban to withdraw from Afghanistan. Yet, you're blaming Biden for it? The war was ending. The deal was signed. The troops were coming home. Yea...everyone foresaw the collapse of the Afghan military. I mean we gave them everything they needed. They were just a bunch of p*****s who refused to fight and stand up for their country. How are you going to save a country whose soldiers collapse like a bunch of dominos at the first sign of trouble?

Come on, you know that's simply not true. Trump negotiated the crappy deal, Biden dealt with it and got the troops out, was it perfect, hell no but at least he had the stones to do something, unlike your man who just talkes about things.......still waiting on that healthcare package.....you guys can at least tell the truth on such simple things

One of Donald Trump's campaign promises was to end the war in Afghanistan. Last year, he negotiated an agreement with the Taliban to withdraw all U.S. forces by May 1 of 2021. That's less than two months away. Not represented in that agreement were members of the Afghan government. They're now negotiating with the Taliban. Meanwhile, President Biden, having inherited the Trump deal, faces some tough choices, as my guest, Dexter Filkins, explains in his new piece in The New Yorker. If Biden succeeds in pulling out troops, he will end a forever war. But with U.S. troops gone, civil war could flare up, the Taliban could take over and the war Americans fought could be deemed a failure....more at the link

Trump signed the deal but it was Biden who oversaw the withdrawal and also who chose to ignore the obvious signs that the Afghan government was in free fall.

That said though I find it interesting in just this thread how many will claim they oppose the the PRC and even justified using terms like “Kung Flu” yet are basically repeating or sympathizing with CCP rhetoric when it’s Democrat that is sticking it to the PRC by going to Taiwan.

For the question of whether the US will defend Taiwan for some here it seems like that depends on which Party is in power in the US.

She’s the legendary stock market insider trader Queen ..amazing how she gets away , funny that even AOC even mentions this at least. And I’m sure it goes on the other side as well but Pelosi does it better than anyone unfortunately and yeah there should be some kind of clause that politicians cannot go into trading like this because of this specific situation

Certainly Pelosi and her husband have made a lot of money in stock trading and it wouldn’t surprise me if she used her position to benefit that.

She still has a long history of opposing the PRC and whether you like her or not this does seem genuine.

Again though I find it interesting how many who have previously said they oppose Xi Jinping are repeating his rhetoric because it’s a Democrat sticking it to him.
