The injury is real, BUT I think Rudy is using this opportunity to rethink his line up. Mobley is a very good player, but I do think he negatively affects team chemistry. He often makes very poor decisions. Observe closely the next four games.
I don't think it's fair to judge a teams play cause injuries ot players. The Rockets had a good game last night so now your trying to say that the Rockets only had a good game because of Cuttino's injury...........umm I think that's BUll****. The Rockets played good defense (I think they really played it after the Dallas game) and the defense turned into offense. In fairness to Mobley I don't think it's fair to say his injury was a blessing or to judge the game because of his injury. Couldn't the rockets just felt that they're missing their second leading scorer on the team and they feel they need their defense to be even stronger tonight?
I hate to blow your theory out of the water but against Dallas and with Cat starting we had 22 assists as opposed to 21 against the Wizards. I think the rise in assists has a lot more to do with the type of offense we have run the last two games as opposed to Cat. In the last two games we have dumped the ball into the post early in the offense a lot more and Yao Ming has had a lot more minutes. I think this is the reason for the increase in assists. Cat has not made a bunch of bone head decissions as you claim. His only real crime this year has been his inability to put the ball in the basket. Only now have we found out the reason why. I have stated several times that Cat just has not looked like Cat. He has not been as aggresive and his shots have not been falling. He has actually been taking mostly good shots this year. Unfortunately he has been playing on two bad ankles, bad enough to land him on IR for two weeks. Cats assists the last 10 games: Was dnp DAL 3 Cle 4 LAL 2 Phoe 4 Por 4 G.S. 3 Sea 3 Tor 2 Den 4 Cat is also only averaging about 15 shots a game so their is no justification for anyone calling him a ball hog. Last year Cats mid range jumper was pure money and his driving skills have never been questioned. When Cat's wheels heal and his shot comes back he will be a great asset to our team.
It doesn't matter how good Mobley was last year, the year before, when he was 20, etc. Cuttino Mobley is not the Rockets' Kobe Bryant or Shaquille O'Neal, Steve Francis and Yao Ming are. Mobley is the Rockets' Glen Rice. When they get rid of him, they will be more efficient on a much more consistent basis.
Why all the Mobly haters? Just cuz he is going through a shooting slump yall are ready to trade on him? I know what CAT is capable of doing I watched last year as he was our best jump shooter man he is the best shooter on the team. Steve is a better driver but he isn't always so consistant, yall see one good game against the old Wizards and yall think we gonna do so much better without CaT? They played the freaking Wizards man they aint no Dallas Mavericks that for sure. We are 7-4 thats not bad the season is still early the team is still adjusting to having Yoa on the team, yall act like Yoa is gonna score 30 every night he gone have some ruff times against Shag and other big men int he league he got tired in that game against Dallas, you still gonna need your other offensive weapons and CAT is one of them sure enuff he is in a slump but hell nah you gotta be stupid to say he hurts the team, and I hope the Rockets win the games without him but believe me we are better with him, once he gets hott again all yall will be silent and Rockets gonna have a good season if Rudy coaches right man he needs to use Mo Taylor and start him and demand offense from him and Mo is capable of doing that but freaking Rudy wants to mess with different line ups screwing up the chemistry himself. Last year or the year before he put Moochie Norris's azz to guard Jason Kid when Jason was hott that day and lil moochie can't play defense and they needed that win to keep playoff hopes a live. Why you gonna put Moochie on their best scorer? I don't think Rudy knows what he is doing sometimes only reason why he won them rings cuz Hakeem was on top o his game back then.
Cuttino gets physically ill if he doesnt jack up a shot every 5 minutes. If he learned to control himself a little better, he'd be a great player. He shoots way to much to be an effective player on this team. Dribble, dribble, shoot may be good for stats, but it doesnt get anyone else involved. When you consistently shoot jump shots with someone's hand in your face and expect your teammates to stand there, people are going to criticze you. I have never seen a veteran who would rather score than win. Im not saying that's Cuttino's feelings, but that's his game.
man Cuttino is never the first option in the offense they always wait till the last minute to give it to Cuttino to make something happen when he is double teamed its like they want his offense but they give him the ball at the worst times they never try to run plays to get him open,I'll see Cuttino open and Steve won't pass it but then latter Cat can be guarded like a fly on crap and then Steve want's to pass it. I think its the Point Guards job to get the team involved and alot of people look passed Steve cuz of the points he puts up but I think he needs to learn to take his point guarding skills to another level and his passing game to another level. What you think makes Jason Kidd so good? Is cuz he passes and finds ways to make his teamates involved and makes them look better.
Havn't we already established that Cuttino's shots are down this year? He's averaging 15.4 shots this season as opposed 18.4 last season. The year before that he shot 15.4 shots as well. And in the 2 previous years, he averaged 12.5 and 8.6. So, please tell me how is it that he shoots too much? Don't act like you don't believe that Cuttino would rather pad his stats than win, you wouldn't have said it if it wasn't on your mind. Why would you believe something like that is the question? You've got some problems. I doubt Mobley gets "physically ill" if he doesn't shoot every 5 minutes, actually, if you took the time to think about what you are saying, you would see that taking a shot every 5 minutes wouldn't even add up to 10 shots in a game. Just goes to show what I've always known about people who try to argue that Mobley is a problem for this team, THEY HAVE NO FU**ING IDEA WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!
You think it was a blessing Cato had to go to a funeral to give Yao more playing time this early in the season?
With the kind of comments like the one above you're "showcasing" your identity as that of a moron !
How can u people say Cat is a the biggest ballhog on the team. To me, steve, kt, moT, and eddie are all just as bad, if not worse. It seems like mobley never has play run just for him anymore. I feel like whenever those 4 get the ball, there is no chance of anyone else in teh offense scoring. However, this year, cat has been much more unselfish and it looks like he would rather pass then shot a lot of the times. And one more thing, why is our point guard averaging 4 more shots then our shooting guard? THis just seems wrong to me, especially when Cat is a better SCORER.
Amen. In the off-season I questioned a lot about Steve and Cat's games, mindsets, maturity, intelligence et al. But I posted Thursday night that I wasn't seeing Cat taking bad shots or pounding the ball - he just was having some bad games, and I didn't understand it. Well now I do. It says something about his growth to sit for two weeks for both the benefit of himself and the team. This injury is nothing to celebrate about, but it does provide opportunities for others. But I think Rockets fans have enough reasons to be celebrating without slamming one of our own.
No idea what Im talking about? 2001-2002 Among SG Shots Attempted: 7th in Field Goal Attempts Assists: 27th in Assists per game 45th in Assists per 48 Minutes Guess who? By the way, I like Cat and think he's a good player. However, it's obvious he looks to shoot much more often than he looks to pass. My bad, he does not get ill every 5 minutes. He gets ill ever 2.5 - 3 minutes if he doesnt shoot. Open or not.
Who was he passing to in most situations last season? a non scoring un-drafted Rookie. Look at his stats for this season and you will see your argument will not support itself.
Here's a telling stat (I'm having problems isolating just the SG) Among NBA players 2002-2003 FGA 54th (This is because of a 10 game comparison while most players have played 12-14) Assuming he played 12 games (still less than most) at his avg of 15.4, He would be 27th in FGA and 107th in Assists per 48 minutes
My bad. I should have used the FGA/game instead of total FGA and then average out the difference. 2002-2003 FG attempt per game, he's tied for 29th Assists per 48 minutes 107th
