Cato is too good/expensive to be a backup. Mabye JVG will use him as a PF just for rebounding/blocking.

That's a nice thought but Yao Ming was your starting center.

When did Nestorovic get so good in everyone's estimation? You might be able to argue that he's better than Cato, but everyone has him listed as one of the best centers in the league. I don't see him as much more than not-a-liability-in-the-starting-lineup.

magic was a point guard because he played the point guard position. you know...ballhandler, distributor, coach on the floor.

duncan is a center because he plays the center position. you know...low block on offense, occupying the paint offensively, closest man to the basket kind of stuff....

why people insist tim duncan is a power forward is beyond me. i know he's listed there, but i don't care. if you watch the games (which i suspect 1/2 of the bbs does not), then you know he's a center. he just doesn't want to defend centers (namely shaq...who he is afraid of).

what is someone like Dirk Nowitzki then? He starts at PF most of the time but he never plays like a PF. Is he a SF?

Duncan is a wuss. :) I still remember last regular seaon game between Lakers and Spurs. When Duncan comes to help defend Shaq in the paint, he get thrown off Shaq like a popcorn.

    He must be a young'un.

Back in the early 90's- Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing, Dougherty, Mourning...who else?

dirk is undefinable. seriously. some players come along that break the mold. dirk is one. garnett is another. these guys could be defined as a small forward, but i don't because their skill set stretches far beyond that. either of them could play 4 positions at a high level. duncan, OTOH, cannot. he can play the 4 or 5 at a high level, but that's it. but looking at tim's game, he plays like a center...the same way that olajuwon did.
