Well, if they lose him to free agency, they don't get anything. Might as well do a sign and trade for something, haha.
If Bosh says "I'm leaving Toronto and I want to sign with Houston" they won't have a lot of choice. They can either let him walk and sign on the open market somewhere else (probably in the same conference, which they don't want), and they get nothing back... or they can send him where he wants to go and get some picks and expiring productive veterans back in return.
I would like to think that Brooks is in our long term plans cause he really is playing extremely well right now. As for competing in this offense i like how he is still a regular winner of the Landry signature player of the game award. Brooks and Martin is a deadly combo and thats already proven but would a yao/bosh work? you never know
DD is right. After Smith and Cassell (that's over 10 years ago), we had a lot of problems finding good pg's (I don't know what to think about Stevie Francis). So it is not as if losing Brooks is not a big deal. IT IS.
1) Why would he demand a trade to HOUSTON? There has been no indication that he wants to play here over anywhere else 2) Why would the Raptors care if he resigns within their division? They aren't winning now with him, they are not gonna be winning any time soon without him. Not to mention this is the same team that traded Vince Carter within their own division when he was one of the best players in the league. 3) They would not want the contracts of Battier and Scola, what good would they be to them? They would not want vets with long contracts, especially if they just lost Bosh. Not to mention our 1st round picks would be very low.
True, that's why I think it's a long shot we'll sign him, not a sure thing as some people are acting like it is. If they're getting back Knicks picks then they can keep the Knicks from getting him, that increases the value of what they're getting back We would send the Knicks picks, not ours. Those have a good chance of being high lottery picks. Battier is expiring. You might be right that they won't want Scola, so send them Jeffries who is also expiring, throw in Budinger or Hill to sweeten the deal if necessary, but not Brooks.
Maybe because 1.) its close to home 2.) we have the assets to trade Toronto without giving up any core players 3.) he can be the man here 4.) he can play for a winner 5.) Chinese sponsorships 6.) no state income tax 7.) Houston is warm Because they arent garbage fillers. They will go out, even on a bad team, and play hard, play d, and give it thier all? Battier would be an expiring and Scola fits thier international theme. They arent our 1st round picks, they are Knicks picks, which will assuredly be great if Bosh doesnt go there.
And add Greg Monroe in the high post feeding Yao in the post and Brooks and Martin off back doors cuts .ITS OVER
I wouldn't wanna do Battier and Scola dirty like that and ship them to Canada of all places. After what they've done for this franchise, it wouldn't seem right.
Preposterous post. The guy is only 25 and you're worring about him losing his athleticism? Hakeem was still one of the most athletic players in the league around 30.
Well I think Toronto WOULD want Brooks. A SnT though, say if Bosh wanted to come here specifically out of all the choices he had. Then yes, The Raps would be in a corner and Morey will do his magic and get Bosh without giving up much. Brooks Martin Ariza Bosh Yao Talk about...Championship  we'd need a lot to go right have that starting 5 come October though. Also even if Martin or Yao continue to have injury problems, as long as it isn't for the year those other guys can make up for their scoring. I'm just dreaming, I think Toronto will demand that they take Brooks back if not they will find another deal with a team Bosh likes. The only way is if Bosh says specifically...he wants to go to the Rockets.
Bosh is nice. But what we really need is some to rebound block shots hit the open 15-18 foot jumper and run the offense from the high post.Greg Monroe anyone?
y'all need to be thinking 3 team trade again. Toronto needs to get rid of jack or calderon to even consider acquiring Brooks. I think both have another 3 yrs left, but calderon makes about 10 mill and jack about 5.
Why the hell should we trade Brooks??? So Cleveland should trade LeBron because he is at his peak and his trade value is maximized??? Why not just keep your best player (who is Aaron Brooks right now) and try to add some less significant pieces without gutting the team? I seriously doubt Morey would s&t Brooks for a player not named Kobe/LeBron/Wade/Melo/D-Howard/KD/CP3/D-Will/Roy.
I was thinking of that as well, Toronto would absolutely love to dump Calderon if they can, his contract is terrible. We'd either need a 3rd team involved, or they want Jeffries expiring and maybe another 1st rounder.
Good point he'd be a significant upgrade on defense but keeping Brooks and adding any good PF would be even better. Brooks does well taking a secondary/shared scoring role as a starter because of his ability to hit spot up 3s and slash like Martin. And I don't think the Rockets are in a situation to trade away their future when Yao is still questionable and we have picks to help us get young or get better.
