I would not be in favor of trading Brooks for Bosh, by the way. Mainly for financial reasons, but also because I think Brooks is a better fit on this team when Yao comes back.
Morey's going to sell high on Brooks just like he did with Landry. Brooks defense is too much of liability at times, and if we could get the chance to get Bosh, Morey will gladly ship Brooks out.
Yep, also Bosh is like the same age as Brooks. I would do the same thing, we still don't know how Lowry will play with Martin though. Martin may actually like playing with Brooks they kinda score the same way.
You can't sell high when a guy is still improving night in and night out. You can only sell high when a guy has peaked, which Brooks has obviously not.
We sold high on Landry because we were desperate for a true SG. I wouldnt be surprised if Morey can swing another major player without including Brooks.
Chris Bosh is > than any potential that Brooks may have left + whatever first rounders that need to be included and cap filler. I like what Brooks brings to the table but at this point what we see is what we get, and if costs us Brooks to get Chris Bosh, I'd bite the bullet.
I would trade Brooks for Bosh... but that's just about the only person whom I'd trade him for. Yes I used the word "whom" in a forum, I'm educated.
but i do agree in a way with the OP... First, calderon isn't quite working out like the Raptors hoped for. He's back from injury, but can get his starting job back from Jack. Jack is decent, but doesnt do anythign well, just average all around. They may be interested in acquiring Brooks, but need to get rid of calderon or jack...jack may be easier to move. Second, like someone mentioned, brooks is going to decline quickly one he starts to age. Other guards still have some size to use, but he wont. He's still yrs away from that, but it's something to consider. It means his time here won't be as long as someone like Yao, so maybe it's best to get rid of him now for someone who may play at a high level longer. finally...there's only one basketball to go around. I'm sure once Lowry and ariza are back we're going to score 105 or so points pretty consistently. Realistically that's good enough, it's not like we need Yao too so we can score 130 a game to win, not that it would be easy to do anyway...My point is we'd be better off giving away Brooks' scoring, as great as it may be, for a PF that can give us some scoring as well, maybe not as much, but if he can provide some defense too, it's a good trade off. Yao will provide both as well and that'll make us a more complete team.
If you're expecting Brooks to become a top 3 pg in the league, you're going to be sadly disappointed. Meanwhile Chris Bosh has a case for being the best pf in the league. Do you still need a crystal ball?
I don't think they need another PG to replace Bosh, maybe Lowry and Scola and a couple picks gets the deal done. I would hold onto AB, as I have said all along the guy is a borderline all star now.... He is NOT peaking......he has a ways to go yet. 22 and 9 is not out of the question if he plays with Martin all year. DD
You have to sell right before they peak, not when they do. You have to make the other person believe they still got untapped potential, but that at the moment they are still worth it. That's what happened with Landry, he's good now, and he may get even better. You only wait if you expect him to improve tons more, but right now i can't see him being more than a scoring point. He'll prob top off at 25 ppg scoring, 5 or 6 assist a night. He's not far from there.
I am not necessarily against a trade like this but there is NO WAY Chris Bosh is the best PF in the NBA. Bosh is quickly becoming the most overrated player on this site. Is he a good player? Sure. Is he a player you can build a franchise around? No way. The guy has had a single winning season in his entire career. Not to mention he plays as little defense as Brooks does
If Brooks is going to top out at 25ppg/6ast/3trb then yeah, I prefer him to Bosh, because he will fit with the rest of our offense better and be a lot cheaper with just a tiny bit less production.
Thats your opinion, and if you think that then fine, but theres a reason hes going to be the most sought after partner to Wade or Lebron. How many big men in this league give you 25/11 on 52% shooting?
Not many, and he would be perfect in Rick Adelman's high post read and react system with Brooks and Martin and Yao. I just don't want the team to Rob Peter to pay Paul. DD
