Why do you care so much about convincing one poster on CF?

I am not convinced that Bosh is a franchise player.

You are convinced that Bosh is a franchise player.

    The end.

So what makes someone a franchse player? What are the criteria?

Do you have to basically carry a team on your back to a championship? I can't think of a player who ever has. Wade would probably be the closest, but to say he was alone is far fetched.

I think Bosh is the best PF in the league, and by a wide margin. I couldn't care less if he's a "franchise player".

I don't care to convince you. I just find your logic really weird. It's like ignoring the diagnoses of a real doctor because some guy on yahoo answers give you a different opinion.

    Morbid curiosity, if you will.

Bosh doesn't need to be a franchise player. He is just a piece missing in our puzzle. We need him to go forth and get to that championship level.

I don't think he is a franchise player, but he is as important as one for this team for the fact that we are his signing hear away from being a contender.

the point is that if bosh is the best player on your team you will never win jack, he cant even will his team into the playoffs much less a championship, i rather hope that our unreliable yao ming can come back healthy and hitch to that wagon that pull all our apples in chris boshs basket, we will be screwed if that happens and then we can have another year like this one where we wait to find out who wins the boshs contract sweepstakes in 2015 or whatever year it is. i rather go to war with the team of proven warriors we have right now then bring in another soft ego maniac. i dont wanna lose hill or budinger

if we knew for sure yao was going to be healthy i might be a little more acceptable to bring in bosh where we know and he knows he is second fiddle, but i dont want him coming in here thinking were handing him the team hopefully he just signs with the bulls or raptors

and whoever said he is not soft like gasol is crazy id take gasol, stoudemire, dirk, josh smith, bogut, gerald wallace, and noah over bosh

Is Chris Bosh a Franchise player, probably not.

Is Yao a franchise player, given injuries, probably not.

All of you guys who are saying what a Bosh/Yao rockets team can't do, what is your alternative.

How would you guys go about turning the rockets into a champion. We have a window and we're gonna at least try to win it all. Can't guarantee Yao/Bosh wins it all, but it's the best idea i've heard.

    LeBron, Kobe, Wade aren't coming.

Constructive ideas please, don't just say no.

Well I think the answer to that is fairly obvious:

    Cp is a franchise guy.

    LBJ is a franchise guy.

DH is a franchise guy (brings the D and the rebs plus some O, also is 2 years younger and much healthier than Bosh).

Take note that LBJ, the most "franchise" guy in the league, will be paid the same amount as Bosh. In a league with a salary cap, will an aspiring contender not be handicapping himself by the same amount to a lower level player? I think so, although of course if your owner is willing to swallow the bill and you already have a good team then it might not matter as much.

So your answer is to simply get LeBron James, Chris Paul, or Dwight Howard. Well that makes perfect sense, I wonder why nobody else thought of that

I think he's a tier below "Franchise" status. BUT, I think a front court of Yao and Bosh is automatically the BEST front court in the league. I think about it more of what he would do with the current mix of players we have. He would do wonders for our subpar backcourt defense (Brooks, Martin) for starters. Now you have two post up go to guys, one of which will be taking turns while the other rests, kinda like we did when we had T-Mac and Yao. They rarely played on the floor at the same time until the 4th quarter and the first 8-10 min of the game.

I been holding off this very question for a while.
I was thinking maybe I need to see more of his play
    but
the initial impression i get from him . .. is soft.

I don't want the rockets to become too much of a 'finesse team'

    Lebron James
    Kevin Durant
    Deron Williams
    Dwayne Wade
    Kobe Bryant
    Dwight Howard
    Dirk Nowitzki
    Chris Paul
    Carmelo Anthony
    Brandon Roy
    Tim Duncan

I'll understand if the last few are debatable.

    Exactly. Rep given.
Yes, Bosh is not a Paul, Wade, or Lebron, and in that sense is not a franchise player in that you cannot expect him to carry a team with a crap supporting cast like Wade can.

But our chances of getting any of those guys is zero. Therefore, you make due with what you have, and you go after someone whom I do think is the 2nd best PF in the league after Gasol. Getting Bosh is the only realistic way of making this team a contender in the Yao era, and while Scola and Hill might get the job, I'd like our odds better if we get a player of Bosh's capabilities.

    Franchise player? Yes.

BUT I would put him in the same boat as Joe Johnson.

A guy that can put up gaudy numbers, but not will his team to the next level.

Better than Robin, but not quite Batman.
