the problem was that rudy t didn't have the nards to bench the players when they needed it. to many arguments over shot distribution and who's in the starting lineup based on how much they're paid. it's sad when the oldest player on your team (rice) is one of the main culprits. by the way... happy bday rice hopefully the next coach will have a pair and let boki play.
It would be insane to not agree that there is some validity to jmwilliamson's theory. Even when various races live and work in the same area, with little to no economic class difference, the races still tend to socialize with people of the same background. In this country, the same background is generally broken down by color. It's a nautural phenemenom I've experienced all of the US and overseas. It's normal and not necessarily racist. I think it's a safe assumption that no matter how diverse our background we've all at one time, conciously or uncounciously, cheered more for a guy because he has the same color of skin. That alone could never make you a racist.
BTW, I would like to see Boki get some time on the court while the team dumps Rice. I think a Posey/Nachbar fight for PT could elevate both of their games.
Boki has been cast in the Euro mold with reports of his sharp shooting. I'm not one to discount race, the extent of racialization in our lives and consciousness, but it was hardly necessary to bring it up here. Bullard may have been a fan favorite, but I also remember him getting plenty of flak as a player. Moochie was also a fan favorite. Fans may have turned on him, but as you mentioned, the same happened with Maloney.
The way they hyped the guy up, he was nba ready. At the start of the season, we had Rice and Morris as small forwards. I find it very hard to believe that if this guy was as good as Rudy and company said, then why couldn't he even smeel the court? You look around and see guys like Dunleavy jr,Okur, and even Prince and Manu play more than Nachbar. If the Rockets just wanted todraft a guy on potential and not on the ability to play this yr, why not draft a guy like Woods who has a very high ceiling?
In regards to Nachabr specificaly, KRIV sports interviewed Rudy early in the year about him and rudy said that he is really Next years first round draft pick, i guess preparing for not having a #1 this year and probobly saying good bye to Glen Rice. I havnt heard any rumors about shiping him but he is a vereren with 1 year left on his contract, could be attractive for teams looking to dump salary. btw, does anyone remember when Matt Moloney's contract is up?
i remember losing so much respect for rudy after he floated that bullsh*t. that's the biggest load of crap i have ever heard come out of a coach's mouth. next year's draft pick...
Mirsad Turkcan was close to that at 18. I can't think of any others from 1-15. Hedo wa the 16th pick, but i wouldn't call him a bust even after this season when his production was waaaaay down.
