Yes Chalmers a championship PG as long as he's got a Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade playing next to him lol

    Lol okay.

Tell that to Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, Rajon Rondo, and Chauncey Billups just in the last decade.

They have 5 of the last 10 championships between them.

Chalmers had Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. We don't have that talent.

Fisher had Kobe, Pau, Bynum, and Odom. We don't have that talent.

The only other pg was white chocolate/Payton on Miami in 06. And to be fair both of those guys are way better facilitators that can actually make the right play on offense than Beverley will ever be.

Mario Chalmers won a Championship because the best player in the NBA was on his team lol. Pat Bev is a solid PG, but anyone who watches Rockets Basketball knows that they could use an upgrade at the PG position. #RedNation #Pursuit #Rockets

so you want to trade a player based off how he's done a few games, instead of how he's done overall as a rocket? Other teams consider beverly a first or second all defensive NBA PG.

Not sure what you're saying, or if there was a miscommunication. If we had Dragic we should always have Harden or Dragic on the court. My point was that it is silly to think that Beverley should ever come off the bench when his strengths are best used as a starter. Dragic would do better off the bench for the Rockets because he has similar strengths to Harden, plus would be good at setting up our bench shooters like Terry/Brewer etc.

Yes. Remember when the Rockets won 2 championships with Kenny Smith? People didn't want him running the offense, they wanted him to shoot 3's at 40% rate and not do anything stupid. Beverley is like Kenny Smith but a slightly worse shooter but much better defender.

dont blame beverley, of all people, if the rockets dont get past the first round lol. blame the lack of a offensive system, the inconsistency of this team, and dwight no longer being a 2nd option.

Bev is a championship PG. The problem is that he shouldn't be needed for more than 30 minutes and, for reasons we've all speculated, we don't have a viable backup better than Terry right now. We need Shved or Canaan to have a breakout year, both for our slim hopes of contention with this roster and also because Beverley is a soon-to-be FA and it's always good to have insurance for that kind of situation.

When he's at 30 minutes, I can see him bringing that elite D and near 40% shooting from 3pt range while not turning the ball over. That's all we need from him. But we need a different option off the bench and I still feel like Canaan can be that guy. We should be preparing Canaan or Shved for playoff minutes and not give Terry this many minutes till later in the season maybe.

Unfortunately it's a fact that that the PG Position is the most stacked in the NBA. It's also a fact that Morey has historically pulled out above average point guards from nowhere on a whim. The last fact is that Patrick Beverley is the worst starting point guard among the top 11 western conference teams.

I don't need to come up with anything. It's not as if there is a dearth of available players to trade for. Your line of thinking is still bad given those facts. I generally agree with a lot of your posts. Not sure why, but you sound really mad. It's not that big of a deal to disagree with someone. Get your panties out of a bunch.

The rolling eyes emoticon doesn't make you right.

Chalmers was fine for the Heat because their team was stacked - they had 3 stars on that team, one which happens to be one of the best players in league history. They also had a solid second ball-handler.

For a team like the current Rockets, Bev is (absolutely) NOT a starting point guard - and I've been saying that since last year. He'd be best suited off the bench.

Bev is a championship PG off the bench. THis naturally means that an upgrade over him will be starting at PG.

A 3 guard rotation of "Upgrade at PG, Harden and Bev along with maybe spot minutes for Terry should sufficiently cover the PG and SG positions for 96 minutes.

On the Rockets, James Harden does almost ALL the ball handling. Bev's role is a spotup shooter next to Harden (in which he's pretty good). Comments like
"his defense isn't what it used to be" are without merit. What is this based off? You can't be watching the same games I'm watching.

    Curry-27pts (9-18)
    Westbrook-16pts (6-13)
    Irving-38pts (15-26)
    Rose-19pts (6-17)
    Wall 13pts (4-10)
    Conley-11pt (4-15)
    Lillard 18pt (6-16)

Out of 7 top tier pg's only 2 of them had good games against us. Bev's defense is where it should be. Our playmaking pg needs to come off the bench, behind Bev. We have other problems that ppl blatantly ignore. I guess since Bev's playing for a contract some of you are overly critical of him now. But the replacements you've thrown out there are horrible.

I wish we would start Canaan for a spin and see if he could become a championship point guard.

Bev looks like he's a step slower on defense than last year. Which I don't understand why is without merit since he's coming off a second all NBA defense team AND a torn meniscus. Just take a look at some of last year's Rockets clips. It might also have something to do with Bev playing longer minutes this year w/o Jeremy Lin rotating in.

And I do agree with you that the Rockets have other issues as well, namely Dwight posting up a little too much and not expanding on his game. But the potential solution here is even more complicated than at PG. You gonna suggest a trade for Dwight? Nobody would give us fair value back. Are you going to seriously sub Dwight out everytime he posts up? Bev is getting the most criticism because he's playing heavy minutes and is less integral to the team than Dwight and Harden, and less in favor with fans than DMo - and we can't talk about trading Ariza because we just signed him and he does seem to have injected new energy into the team defense.

Beverley isn't our problem. Our problem is that when Harden isn't going beast mode, we struggle to score.

You'd think that whenever Harden isn't hitting his shots we would play harder D to get transition points and rotate the ball on offense but we end up force feeding Dwight in the post as our go to play and everyone just watches.
