Bev is a nice player. However, this team needs another guard that can create and score besides Harden. Goran could, but I doubt PHX trades him, since they're in the thick of things.
Bev is fine when playing with Harden. harden is basically the PG on offense. The problem is when Harden goes out we really don't have many playmakers. Bev, Canaan, Terry, are all shooters.
When was the last time Beverley had 25 in a game let alone a huge Playoff game? Hell when was the last time he had 17?
The problem isn't Bev perse. It's Bev+Ariza+Howard+Smith+Dmo+Brewer+Kpap The issue is that none of them can take the load of Harden by getting the offense going. While they can score and occasionally make a good pass, they can't break a defense down. As a matter of fact, what those guys do is make it HARDER for HARDEN to break down defenses since the defense can just focus on Harden and knows it can recover once they force the ball out of his hands if they position their players correctly. That's the problem. And the best place for us to fix that is by getting a starting PG. It's not a knock on Beverly. If we had Durant instead of Ariza, we would be perfectly fine with Beverly.
Who cares right guys? Harden at pg works. Ive been said we needed a pg aince 2 years ago. Everyone wanted a pf and a sf doe. Just let Harden run the point, i read some stat that its very efficient.
we really need another guy who can go out and score 25 points on a given night. right now we only have harden or howard who even have the ABILITY to do that. (outside of fluke games) ariza, beverly, smith, dmo, all are 10-15 scorers
No but he had # 2 or at worst #3 best player production in some of the biggest games of the year. Is Bev capable of that? I dont even see this team giving him enough shots to contribute that much in a must win game.
This thread is full of lulz. Get Dragic and put Beverley on the BENCH? So... Beverley can't create, yet he shoots the open 3 well and plays D well... let's play him when he's not on the court with Harden? Makes no sense. If we got Dragic he should be the 6th man since he is a Harden light and would dominate most bench units. I'm totally fine with limiting Bev to 22-25 mpg but no way should he ever come off the bench. For those that don't understand basketball, Harden is our PG and Bev is our SG on offense, but on defense Bev defends the PG position and Harden defends SG. On offense, the PG generally handles the ball a lot more than the SG, and the SG is there generally to hit open shots, like Wes Matthews for Portland, Korver for ATL, Danny Green for SA, etc. As far as SGs go offensively, Beverley is about average but ultra elite as a defensive PG defender, which is important because as I stated before, generally PGs handle the ball more than SGs and we want our best defender guarding the guy who has the ball in his hands the most. Yes Bev will have some lousy defensive games and will miss open 3s sometimes, but he is really, really good. Any sort of Dragic addition would simply add a bench sparkplug offensively, but a major downgrade on D if you were to start Dragic and put him against most starting PGs.
Unfortunately on this team, alongside Harden, we need another guard who can create and playmake. Terry's game has also declined significantly starting the start of the year. Canaan is still not fully recovered. Can Shved provide that until the trade deadline?
If you have to ask then probably not. He is the "worst" starting PG among the West playoff teams. Curry Lillard Conley Beverley Rondo Paul Parker Bledsoe(or Dragic) ---[Last 3 out]--- Holiday Westbrook Lawson Look around the BBS, folks want a new PG. Lawson, Dragic, Bledsoe, Rubio,...so on and so forth.
Yes, but the Heat had the ball in LeBron & Wade's hands. Need two ballhandlers especially in the 4th when they can alternate possesions to make it harder for teams to defend against.
Why would Harden and Dragic have to go to the bench at the same time? Play them for a stretch, then send one to the bench for a breather and alternate between playmakers etc. Think man!
Well here is how he stacks against other West "championship contender pg's" Either next to last or dead last in the most important stats for a pg - points and assists Which of these "championship point guards" is not like the other? You figure it out Westbrook-------------25.4----7.5 Curry-------------------23.8----8 Lillard------------------22.1----6.2 Conley-----------------17.9----6.1 Paul--------------------17.8----9.7 Dragic----------------- 16.9---3.6 Parker -----------------14.9---4.7 Beverley-------------11.2---3.2 Rondo-------------------9.3---9.8

Eight of these nine PGs are good at running plays. Beverley is basically a spot up shooter that's not terribly consistent, and defense which was his strongsuit hasn't been there a whole lot this season.
Didn't Kerr play with a guy named Michael Jordon, didn't Fisher play with K.Bryant and didn't Chalmers play with that guy named Lebron James lol.
Yes - but he is not a traditional PG - nor is he top of the heap as a PG, but he fits on our team because Harden is the PG. DD
