Thanks for the feedback on both accounts, SM. I'd also like the replies of others too. I just would like to be sure that a replica would be a high and long-lasting quality as my NFL customized replicas were of a very poor quality. Thanks in advance... BattiersBaby.
JVG has a pretty serious man-crush on Shane Battier so I think he'd wake up out of that "I have no say in personnel decisions go talk to CD" B.S. if he caught wind that management was even entertaining the idea of trading Battier. Shane Battier is a coach's dream. Smart, hustles, does everything (to drag out the cliche) that doesn't show up on the stats sheet. Etc etc. All that said, could he be traded? For the right player, absolutely. There's a player or two on the Detroit roster that would entice us. Certainly Shane wouldn't mind going home.
Agreed. Battier is also the only Rocket who doesn't get called for too often for bullsh*t fouls, so he can usually effectively (aggressively) guard the other team's #1 scoring option late in the game. That's huge.
Yao is the only one that could never be traded. His upside is just to high. TMAC will not be traded because we could never get value for him. When healthy he is top 10 player. Shane just fits this team to well so we could not get value for him. He has more value to us than other teams that lack superstars.
I think Battier's value is equal to that of a Tayshaun Prince. The probably do value Battier over Rashard Lewis...I've tracked Lewis for a while...he hasn't been asked to do more so maybe he can, but his shot is very sweet. If I were the Rockets, I'd probably trade Battier for Prince...younger, longer, more athletic, and damn smart too...not Battier smart, but closer than most others are. I might trade Battier for Andre Iguodala...no, I'd probably do that, but it wouldn't help a JVG team. Of course we'd all trade Battier for Kobe or Duncan or some superstar...I'm trying to be somewhat realistic. Okay, so here's my list to think about in terms of Battier equal or close to equal trade value: Manu Ginobili Tayshaun Prince Rashard Lewis Josh Howard...actually, this is a no brainer...Howard is just too talented Mike Miller David West Luol Deng Caron Butler (the offensive equal to Battier's denfense) Of that list, I'd take Butler, Lewis, and Prince over Battier...I don't think JVG would...and I'm not sure about the fit...but Butler's offense is amazing...Lewis shooting is absolutely amazing and he's tall and athletic. And Prince is like a taller Battier with more potential. I think Battier is great and all, but come down to it, it's all about the offense. Battier played great D on Brandon Roy last month, and Roy's offense won the game hitting a tough shot over Battier one-on-one. I know we have T-Mac and Yao, but I'd rather have a Rashard, Butler or Prince than Battier because, when the game is on the line, you can't say to Battier "alright, if we can't get the ball to Mac or Yao, you have to make something happen Shane and put the ball in the hoop." That's just not possible...Battier can't do that. Butler, Lewis, and even Prince can. Of course the other aspects of their games aren't bad either. Battier is 10times more valuable than the likes of Ricky Davis or Wally Scissorback.
Amen. I was a diehard Grizz fan for 5+ years (and still like them a lot) so believe me, I know this was the case... even if some say Gasol is the most "important" to the team. By the way, can I get additional feedback on replica NBA and Rockets jerseys? How is the quality? Do the numbers and letters remain affixed after numerous washings? Thanks... BattiersBaby.
Someone mentioned that Chauncey is a free-agent next season. Just day dreaming of having a PG that we won't have a problem with... Yao ??? Battier T-mac Billups Let's hope someone in the front office has the vision and the courage to turn Houston into a perennial champion. We've got the most unstoppable offensive player in the NBA, let's maximize his prime years and add proven talent that will complement and make the team even better.
(BUMP!) Can any more of you offer feedback regarding replica jerseys... please? Thank you. BattiersBaby.
I would like additional feedback on replica jerseys, please. Are the numbers and letters painted on to the fabric or ironed on? I would like to buy a jersey but I want to be sure it is of solid quality first. Can anyone offer further insight, please? Thanks. Go, ROCKETS! BattiersBaby.
After thinking a bit, I guess my question regarding replica jerseys is this: If I were to get a replica of a player like Battier, rather than a "more common", always-available for purchase variety, such as LeBron or Duncan, would the Battier jersey have painted-on sorts of letters and numbers, just as the commonly available players' jerseys are? Help, please... Thanks. BattiersBaby.
it would have to involve a player above Battier's level, like if we can package him with others to get maybe like Kevin Garnett (yeah I know wishful thinking)
Hmmm? I don't understand... Are the letters and numbers painted on or applied in some different way? BattiersBaby.
