hey guys i heard that up to now stro is still not answering any of jerry west's and fratello's calls hmmm seems like we can still have him back!

    http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/tigers/article/0,2844,MCA_25363_4870618,00.html

West and Fratello confirmed that they have yet to speak with forward/center Stromile Swift. The team re-acquired Swift along with Gay in a draft-day trade that sent Shane Battier to Houston. Swift has not returned more than a couple of phone messages left by West and Fratello. Swift's agent, Andy Miller, told The Commercial Appeal earlier this month that his client would "make this work." ... The Griz waived guard Anthony Roberson and are apparently prepared to satisfy Fratello's desire to add a veteran point guard. Said West, who had referred to Roberson as the best shooter on the team: "We really appreciate Anthony's effort and professionalism this past year. He is a very talented guard with a bright future in professional basketball, and we wish him the very best." ... West acknowledged that there still is "concern" about veteran point guard Damon Stoudamire's rehabilitation from knee surgery. Team brass will watch Stoudamire work out today to get an update on his progress.

Maybe if it gets bad, they'll send Swift back to us in exchange for Juwan. :D

how can you not miss stro? stro had the same production as JUWON but with less minutes, less money, and younger. the thing that makes me mad most is that im pretty sure jerry west wouldve done a rudy gay for battier trade straight up.

    i will miss stromile.

Will I miss Stromile? Maybe. I won't miss him at PF, I know that. Battier and Hayes will be a big improvement in his minutes. If Mutombo isn't good enough to play back-up center and the Rockets answer is to re-sign Lonny Baxter, then and only the will I miss Stromile.

well i hoped for stro to finally "get it" here in houston but it just wasnt going to happen, and i dont think he ever will.

For those who blame JVG...pull your head out of your butt.

for those who say he didnt get a fair shake...please dont be a player apologist. With all the injuries last year he had his chance to make his stamp on the team but was beat out by an undrafter 6-6 guy (hayes).

For those who wanted him playing next to tmac and yao...why? he would just stand around watching them most of the time anyways. He still looked lost. he was still inconsistent.

for those that say his defense will be missed is laughable. He routinely lost people on the defensive end and other than the amazing block shot every now and then he wasnt a good defender.

Its unfortunate b/c he really could have made the rockets a tough team to beat if he played well more than once every month.

I'll miss him in NBA 2K6. He used to get rebounds, block shots, and get the momentum shifting power putback. Not to mention the amount of fouls he would draw crashing the offensive glass and trying to put it back up. His presence in the paint was undeniable.

Can't agree more. Some of the fans here are just as impatient as the Rox front office. If you all can stand the mistakes from JHo, why can't you tolerate Stro---a guy who actually took less money for a chance to play here. I would rather take Stro anyday over Jho, who is just untradable deadwood. I am gonna miss him, only if we could replace him with Jho in the trade...

Yes, I will really miss Stromile. I had waited a long time to get an LSU player on the Rockets, then when I finally get my wish JVG has to ruin it after one season. Stro never really got a chance with a healthy McGrady and Yao.

Wasn't stro's shooting % better? He shot outside as well and has a nice shot. He just doesn't settle for it much. At times too intent on dunking every play. the times he realized he could get a good shot with a non-dunking post move, it was beautiful. When he didn't force it. he had his flaws, no doubt, but he hardly useless.

I wish we knew what was in his head, b/c I don't see him as lazy. I think I'm much like him, just quiet, and rarely show emotion (unless he dunks it nicely). Also, worried, paranoid to screw up and get benched...your performance *is* altered with that kind of "looking over your shoulder" feeling.

Anyway, we'll never know now. Even if he refuses to go to memphis, what will make him want to play for us? :\
