You draft a superstar by tanking. Very few of them ever fall out of the top ten, most don't fall out of the top five. In other words, if you really feel that the Rockets need to draft a superstar, it only makes sense to hope the Rockets lose a ton of games this season. This is weird, but it's how things work in the NBA.
Yup, and to be honest, i'd rather we tank this season and end up with a top 3 pick than miss the playoffs in a tough west and finish with the 14th pick (see last year).

I just want to taste that sweet, sweet, playoff air again. Astros, Rockets, Texans, any will do. Just want to feel that hot, juicy, steamy, sexy playoff action again. We have probably got expanded playoffs on the way for the Astros. Our Rockets potential tank of this NBA season + Knick picks and or trade spell a bright future, and the Texans just need a couple defensive changes to be juggernaut status. Hang in there fans, there could be some wet, nasty, slippery playoff action goin down in Htown within the next 5 years.
Every December Forbes has an article called NBA Team Valuations. My prediction is that the Rockets operating expenses will be $30 million. How do I know this? Because its around $30 million every year. Leslie Alexander is putting a cap on operating expenses. While other teams are occasionally putting that money back into their team, the Rockets are not. While the Rockets payroll is high, there was still enough money to purchase a good free agent last summer.
The Houston Rockets need to bite the bullet to cut off the leg and save the rest of the body as a whole. I say someone big has to go in a trade.
Problem isn't that we suck, it's the widening gap between expectations and reality. I set aside time in my life to follow the Texans and Rockets (not the Astros lol) because I have an expectation that I will be rewarded with winning performances. Now that time is starting to feel wasted. You think Clutch wants to devote his efforts to supporting a crappy team, just because they happen to reside in Houston?
It's the Houston Owners why we haven't achieved much, Until this year the Rockets owner finally decided to spend more cash for this upcoming season and decided to go over the salary cap. I think sinse Houston Fans really don't sell out games (except for texans) Owners just want to make profit. There not willing to spend money to get a great roster built, therefore we always fall short. This is the reason why I don't ever buy season tickets because if the owners ain't willing to waste for talent then why should I make the owners richer?
I started watching Houston sports in the late 70s, and it seems like it has ALWAYS been like this. Play well enough to get the fans to believe, and then go down like a sack of rocks when it counts the most. Primetime TV Coverage???? NOT a good sign. We almost always drop our pants when the country is watching, then complain that we dont' get enough respect.
As bad as Houston feels sometimes, at least we are not the only city in the US that has multiple pro sports teams a only a handful of championships between them all. Most Houston fans overexaggerate the whole Houston pro sports team always lose thing. It has even got so bad that Houston people like my sister and her friend that don't watch sports think it is true.
This has been a terrible decade for Houston sports. The highlight was the Astros in the WS, but even that was short lived and tainted by poor performances. As much as I'm disappointed by the Astros, the Texans have been far worse. They have only been above 500 once in franchise history with zero playoff births. Two regimes and still mired in mediocrity. The Rockets are a cut above those other two franchises. They have rebuilt and made a playoff run 3 times over the past 10 years. And Houston taking LA to 7 games without Yao and T-Mac was really about as great of an effort as I have seen in any sport. The Rockets still remain the best of the 3 Houston franchises.
