It sucks to see them on their way to win their 1st title.

Hopefully the Rockets will recover and knock out the Mavs next year.

Just think how close we were to knocking them out last year with an aging team....now we get Swift going, a young SG in the draft, bring over V-SPan, and get one more player in Free Agency and we are RIGHT THERE BABY !!!

Oh, got to get Yao and Tmac healthy too......

    :)

Well, let's see: excellent owner, visionary leaders, great team with right players = championship.

BTW, we're nowhere near the Mavs' level right now, so let's take it slow and try to better ourselves and not worry about comparos for now, when we prove we can 'hang with the big dogs' then we can talk about beating Dallas/Spurs...heck, add the Suns to that group with Amare back next season.

I think the Spurs, Mavs, and Suns will dominate the Western Conference for at least a couple more seasons, in which time the Rockets will take a back seat and have time to retool in the shadows, hopefully by which time we will be ready to de-throne the Mavs/Spurs/Suns.

Everyone is unhappy. We need to improve and start our way back to the playoffs and beyond.

Bummed and amazed. Bummed because the Rox's personnel disparity is huge, they are a deep team. Amazed that this is the same team we played last year, pretty much the same personnel as last year but they would have swept us if they were playing like they are this year. Avery deserves the coach of the year, he really has his team playing defense.

I don't think we are that far off, just get Tmac and Yao healthy and we are only a player or 2 away from beating them.

    Every year is different.

Oh, but we can't tell people that! Of course, every time a team wins a series, it's "Now that's the way of the NBA!" It's real simple- to win a championship, you need to have great players playing great. If you have great players not playing their best (e.g. 2000 Trail Blazers), you're not going to win it all. If you have so-so players playing great (1994 Denver Nuggets), you're not going to win it all. One thing that does help in the NBA, though, is to have at least one dominant superstar on a winning team, possibly even a complementary star (Hakeem, Drexler; Jordan, Pippen; Duncan, Ginobilli), the Pistons being the exception. But you can't do it with just those two stars. You have to have complementary players, as well.

I'm not worried about the Rockets unless the front office makes bad decisions regarding player personnel. With the right players, I am dead-set certain we can take this all the way.

I am really enjoying the series. I am cheering for the Mavs to win. Next season when we play them, my utter disgust for them will return. Then I will detest them, despise them, loath them. For now, I'm a fan of any team from Texas.

As to the Rockets taking it all next year, well, that would take a miracle, a healthy TMac and Ming, and several new players that can actually shoot a basket. Who are speedy and smart. And really good. And alot of luck. And....

Nah. Props to them. I'm a Houston Rockets fan first- but I am a fan of good basketball, and unless you're completely biased, you have to give the Mavericks their due. It's very difficult to be the one team that makes it among 29 other teams, often with equally talented players, so as a basketball purist who appreciates watching great players playing great, I have to put aside my bias and give them credit.

Like the other poster said, I'll hate 'em next year, but not today. And if your obnoxious Mavericks-fan friends give you grief, just tell them, "You're right. Your team did the best job this year, we went through it 2 years in a row, so we know how you feel. Enjoy it while it lasts- congrats."

Rockets will always be #1, so who cares about anyone else. 2007!!!!!

Ever since the Astros made the world series sports have gone down hill for me...

    1. Astros get swept

    2. Texans go 2-14 or whatever

    3. Rockets dont even make the playoffs something nobody could even see coming

    4. not only are the rockets not in the playoffs serious health issues surround yao and t-mace mainy t-mac

    5. We pass on bush after winning the BUSH BOWL

    6. The Mavericks are going to win the championship a team that I hate more than anything in the world. And along the way I had to root for the SPURS

    Whats next?

    Seriously what can happen next?

    I'm more than bummed

It makes me want to vomit. I didn't watch the game, so when I looked up the final score today my stomach literally felt queezy. :(

Oh well, at least Payton STILL won't get a ring. :D

Just a typical Houston Sports Year! Do you remember the Oilers?

I still say that passing on Bush/Young will go down as one the stupidest Houston sports blunders of all time, and that is quite a list.

So what did the Texans get for winning the "Bush Bowl?" A defensive end without toe nails. That can't be good.

I am thrilled the Mavs are playing this well. We took vitually the exact same team to seven games with Ryan Bowen playing major minutes. Screw depth. If we have a decent starting 4 and a two guard who is knocking down shots the Rockets can beat anybody with a healthy T-Mac and Yao. Bring it on, b****es.

I guess that's one benefit of a Mavs win. Have to look at the bright side. :D
