Garnett, Allen, and Pierce....that is a joke! Can you really have a team with those three players? They're gonna be good, especially in the east...
Yes, on paper , we are second to none..... then , wait for other teams to submit their simulated standings & power rankings........ D Stern , give us the trophy right awa
In case you dont remember, the Spurs still won the series. Hard to be a spurs killer and still lose in 6 games. Maybe you should call him a spurs manslaughterer, but not killer.
If Rafer is the man again at PG as some are suggesting, the Rockets do not have a PG that can compete with Phoenix, San A., Dallas, Utah, and GS just to mention a few of the competitors in the West. Although certainly a better overall team than last year and with great talent and depth, Rafer is just not a PG to lead them into the finals.
We as fans need to take things one step at a time. Let's see how the team comes together with an offense that is pretty new to most of the team. Let the season start, and after about 10-15 games, we'll know whether or not.."Is anyone as good as the Rockets?," is a valid question. What happens is on paper we look to be one of the top three teams in the league, and many fans, especially cluthcfans, expect results right away. If you have been a Rockets fan for a long time, you have learned to wait for something good to happen. It took nine years befor we got to the elite status after losing to the Celtics in the '86 Finals and making a return. Everyone was like," The Rockets have just started their own dynasty with the Twin Towers. THis year they get to the Finals, but be expecting to see them here for years to come." We as Houston fans know that soon after that year in the Finals the Twin towers became just the single tower that endured a gueling 8-9 years before a finals return. Look..the organization is definitely doing the right things by gathering talent. That's what good teams do. But to be calling yourself the best before start of the long 82...hold your britches. But I will say that based on last year and this year's acquisitions...they are good for at least top 5. But I hope tht we will be legitimately asking if any other team is as good as us very soon!!!!! Aw what the hek...we will be asking and no...no other team IS as good as THe Rockets. How's that for a wishy washy Houston fan?
You guys are nuts. Our PG and PF positions are still big question marks. Rafer could still be a bricklayer, Francis could be bad like the past couple of years, and Mike James could make us want to trade him again. At PF, Chuck Hayes still has no offense and Scola is completely unproven at the NBA level. Not to mention that Yao and TMac have been injured the past few years.
What are you talking about, we're a LOCK IN for this year's championship. Forget Kobe. We ARE a dynasty as far as I'm concerned! Seriously, you're right. I'm a nervous wreck. I can see this whole team just implode on us this season. All it takes is one T-Mac injury and we're out of the championship picture. Plus, we got too many unprovens and a new coach. I see this as more of a transition year.
we are at best a championship team and at worst a 52-55 win team that loses a nailbiter in the first round
I'm not worried about the PF position. Chuck Hayes has already proven to be a legit role player in this league. And after what I've read and seen of Scola so far, I don't know what question marks he has left. As of right now, I don't see any reason to believe he won't be a contributor at the NBA-level. Now, the PG position is another thing.
I like the optimism guys HOWEVER most of our new additions who are good players havnt proved anything in the last season namely, francis, mike james and bonzi do they still have it? we will have to see Scola is going to be good hopefully
Damn straight. That man pees championships in the morning. The only thing the Rockets do not have is the experience of winning, and all the confidence that comes with it. The sky's the limit if we just show up, which is easier said than done.
The best team I've ever seen on paper was Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton and we all know how that ended. I love this team, but we can't raise the Larry O'Brien trophy until the end of the year, so sit tight and enjoy the ride.
