There is no good PF and no good guard beside yaoming. You should think how much he got from his teammates. His many fouls were caused by our PF's bad defence.

I hate to admit it too. But right now Amare is better than Shaq at center.

I'll still take Yao over Amare though, for reasons I've already explained in many posts earlier in thread. Why can't we have them both, sigh.

Amare is 6'10. Prob Near 6,11.. Hes still young.
Hes in a zone right now. No one can stop him.
He played very well last year, but he was injured most of it.

He's having a injury free season right now, and with or without Nash, is and would be owning the league. Hes just that good.

hes having a good season no doubt.

but the man isn't even close to 6'11". i believe he said last season he was 6'9".

"Yao played great but he got a lot of easy baskets,'' Stoudemire said. ``We just stuck with it and played some hard defense against him. It's tough. He's 7-6 and I'm 6-9, trying to block his shots. He's already at the rim. I thought I did a pretty good job against him.''

Amare is the best player in the NBA right now. Player of the month for sure.

I wouldn't go as far as saying what you said though. Not yet.

    Way I see it is:

Yao at his best is better than Amare, but Amare is closer to his best more, and is more, consistent than Yao is. Both are good players who both have the potential to be great, and right now Amare is playing better on a more consistent basis than Yao is.

Bottome line, stats during the regular season don't mean much if U can't do it in the playoffs. Not to say either can't do in the playoffs cuz they've been there only once. But rememer in the early 90's when David Robinson scored at will during the regular season cuz of their up-tempo style of play and having Avery feeding him all those easy baskets.Well things changed once they got in the playoffs and the game slowed down and became a half-court game. It's too early to proclaim anything for Amare or Yao after 10 games roughly. Besides both players play in totally different offenses and different positions. We have to take all factors into account. It's kinda like comparing apples and oranges. That being said, they're both very good players.

No doubt, Amare is better at this stage.

Yao needs to avoid foul trouble and stay on the court. Once he can do that, he can average 22 PPG.

I wouldn't trade Yao for all the rice in China. Yes Amare is more athletic, and is better at this point; however, Yao's work ethic combined with his height and athleticism make him sure to be a legend in this league. It's so hard to find a talented NBA player who you know will not be a head-case.

Well last year playing against one of the most physical players in the league, Shaq, he held his own. He averaged around 15 points. Considering he was playing against Shag in his First playoff series, he did alright.

It seems like all his numbers dropped in the playoffs

Yeah, his numbers did drop off a bit, but he still did decent considering who he was playing. He didn't dominate but held his own.

The best way to think of who is better is to simply put YAO on the suns and put amare on the rox team. How would their stats look with a different cast of surrounding charcters?
