Funny everyone complains about Brooks defense when it the team as a whole that sucks on defense. Battier, Scola, Martin shouldn't be starting as well cause their defense has been horrible as much as AB.

What a stupid point. You still don't get it. Tmac was a lazy primadoona self-lover who didn't care about the team and winning unless he got the glory. He quit on the play you described, he quit on many other plays like that. he admitted being a quitter and quitting on Orlando. He is sham of a man and a major waist of a talent. he may go down as the most talented NBA player to get nothing from his talent but money. Brooks on the other hand made a mistake but continues to play hard if not always smart.

Pretty much. Brooks,Martin, and scola are all below average defenders. Battier is avg right now, Yao is a great interior defender. Take yao out and add hayes, a very limited, small, defender and we have what we have. Lowry is a good defender, but its not like he's shutting anyone down offensively either.

Not enough choices in the poll. Should have had...

    3) One of the worst.

    4) Not quite in the pantheon of the worst.

    5) Not among the worst, but worse than mediocre.

    6) Mediocre.

    7) Lousy, but better than mediocre.

    8) Below average.

    9) Average.

    10) Take lessons from Rafer, AB!

From Laker's game, he has been proved to be a worst defender. Let Shanon Brwow scored 3 x 3 points. He is undersize and also not a clutch player.

However, Shannon was in front of Brooks when the killer, Brown, was shooting those three.

The truth I believe is somewhere in between the various extremes of AB haters/supporters.

    Here are the facts:

    1) AB is and will always be a limited defender due to his size and lack of instincts.

    2) Though the results may not show, AB is "trying" to play defense the best way he knows how.

    3) That "best way" is full of bad habits, lapses, and inexperience.

    4) Since we do not have a strong defensive starting 5, his shortcomings become exponential.

The good news is that Yao is back (albeit limited minutes) and that helps the team defense overall. In addition, Lowry is an excellent defender who can help mask Brooks' deficiency. I've said this before, but Brooks and Lowry individually are not championship caliber point guards. Together, however, they complement each others' game to the dot. They should realize that until they become more complete players, they need each other and not gripe about money (Brooks) and starting role (Lowry).

After laker's pick & roll, the defenders should be swithed to guid the SG - Shannon.

AB refused to switch on a couple of plays, and that led to several open attempts.

The Brooks and Martin combo definitely is the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA! :(

Its funny..It seems like the fans who watch the least Rockets games and
have little to any knowledge about the game are the ones making these stupid claims. Kevin Martin is a pretty bad defender himself, but you guys tend to rag on AB for some odd reason

Martin was the reason we where even close last night and is averaging 27 points a game. I don't blame AB for the loss last night cause NO ONE blamed "D" but Martin and Scola made up for it on the "O" while Aaron did not.

Did you actually watch the game? One has to wonder. I love AB and think he's one of the most talented guys offensively in the league for his size, but the dude has serious defensive limitations. It starts with being under 6 feet, but that's not his only problem with defense. I have to wonder if he ever viewed defense seriously as his experience with the game evolved. Perhaps because he was both short and was light weight, AB figured the only way he would make his mark was on offense.

There has to be some underlying reason. Calvin Murphy was 5' 9" tall and weighed 165, but the man played defense like a lunatic. Lowry isn't as good a comparison, because he has a much different body, being nearly a couple of inches taller (in my opinion, but Kyle's still short) and about 30 pounds heavier, at least early this season (also my opinion... anyone want to argue that?). Kyle just has a different body type, as I said, but Murph was even shorter than AB and at least ballpark in the weight department, possibly played 10 pounds over the 165 most of his career. Maybe. Maybe he got up to 180. I'd love for some cat on the radio to ask Murph what his playing weight really was during his career. And Murph was a scoring PG/SG, just like AB. Why can't Brooks take a page from Calvin? Maybe the staff needs to make up a film collection of Murph playing back in the day, put it on a loop, and force feed it to Aaron. They've got to do something, because this has become more of a point guard driven league than it has been in a very long time. You have to be able to guard these small, quick guys at the one and the two, because we aren't the only team that has some.
