I'll just say that I look forward to Lowry's return to help out at the position.

I'll say NO but that is without seeing the rest of the point guards around the league this season. The dude has some serious lapses on "D" and is just to small to defend even at a slightly below avg level.

Lowry is going to earn his new contract when he comes back because when AB's "O" isn't clicking, Kyle will be huge for this team.

AB is my man, but you're absolutely correct on every point. It amazes me, as quick as AB is, he sticks to screens and guards actually beat him to the spot. He doens't have a defense bone in his body, he could at least cheat and make a steal or body up the guard full court and make him use his dribbles. Something???

AB is a peaker, he peaks at the ball constantly and hopes to sneak in and dig out a steal.

His committment to man defense needs a LOT LOT LOT of work.

    This.

Brooks definitely has the lowest basketball IQ on the team, and unfortunately, he's also our starting point guard. He either has no motivation or no common sense when it comes to playing defense.

He has to know that you guard various players differently. IMO, those 2 3-pointers he gave up to Blake at the end of the 3rd quarter against the Lakers were inexcusable. For the first one, he decides to go underneath a screen set near the paint while chasing Blake, which gives him a wide open 3 from the wing. Then on the very next possession, knowing that Blake has just hit a 3, he backs off of him in the corner in anticipation of a screen, and Blake hits another one. 6-0 run by Steve Blake to deflate the team and give the Lakers momentum heading into the 4th.

Don't flame me for saying it, but JVG was great at coaching up players' basketball IQs. Especially for small stuff like closing out on a player when the shot clock is running down, no matter how far from the basket they may be (Kevin Martin on Shannon Brown).

Agree. Fisher locked down Ray Allen in the finals last year, and how many NBA players have done that through the years.

He's not great, but remember he was starting in 2008 with Battier, Artest, and Yao and that was a HECK of a defensive team.

Combine him with Martin and Brad Miller, and the results aren't pretty anymore.

only player im attached to is Yao. Everyone else I love as a Rocket but thats it. I see them as tradable so I dont get to attached. but I have always been a defensive minded guy so if I am to like someone he better play defense.

Nope, he is bad, but Fisher and Nash are substantially worse, particularly Nash who imo is the single worst defensive player in the NBA and has been over the past decade

Fisher is much better than Brooks. Fisher can't guard quick pgs, but he can guard bigger, slower ones (Kidd/Billups), and he can even guard some 2's. Remember the finals last year?

Given how Battier has performed so far, is this really a compliment?

I agree, Battier is no longer Mr. Glue Guy, he is definitely aging faster than expected, I'm worried for our defensive identity that we once had

AB can play defense just fine, when he is forced into it....right now, he is clearly not placing a good deal of value on it.

He needs to be benched when he is not playing well, but with Lowry out, there is not really anyone to bench him for....
