One thing I really like about Brooks is he can break down Chris Paul and Deron Williams. I saw it this last season. He didn't have a great rookie year, he shot poorly. But I did see that he could break down those guys, the cream of the crop point guards. And I really like that.

No, he can't stop them and will never be able to stop them. Who can? But what Brooks can do that Rafer can't do, is break down the best point guards in the NBA and force the opponent to have to adjust for him. What else can we really ask? If you can't stop them, then at least put somebody on the floor that they can't stop either. We are looking to neutralize the opposing point guards when its gets to that level.

It's just like Boston and the Lakers in the Finals. Boston can't stop Kobe. They can make it tough for him though and he's gonna have to work his a... off defensively against either Ray Allen or Paul Pierce, pick your poison.

Aaron Brooks has the potential to help turn the Rockets into a dynamic offensive team. He's got to improve, no doubt about it. And he will never be a defensive stopper.

Come to think of it. I don't think there are any defensive stopper point guards any more. Has anyone noticed that? Name me one point guard in the NBA that is a defensive stopper, that can single handedly stop CP3, DWill, Iverson, BDiddy, Gilbert, and all the rest? They do not exist. The best defense at the point position is OFFENSE. And Brooks has the potential to bring a ton of OFFENSE.

And not to mention that Brooks was stellar against team USA last year, so much so that Jason Kidd took him aside to discuss his responsibility as a professional player.

I think Brooks is going to be good....maybe not CP3 good, but certainly a lot better than Rafer good.

I have to agree he REALLY exceeded my expectations, but he has the habit of getting chippy after a while also. That one game i believe he was our leading scorer. He used to be a great shot in college, maybe he just needs time to adjust because if he can get that 3 going yea he'll be pretty good but he will always be posted up and pushed around by the bigger guards

Rookie wall? Who knows? Can't really judge him from one season. Hope for the best.

I just wish we had a better starting PG since Brooks is obviously perfect for the "quick spark" role given his incredible speed and shooting.

Aaron Brooks height with shoes: 5'11".75
    http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/?year=2007

This is from the NBA pre-draft combine measurements, which are very precise and include exact measurements of height, wingspan, standing reach, body fat, etc. Lets see, which to believe: a) the combine measurements that detail his height down to a quarter of an inch, or b) random cat on message board.

He's actually NOT 6'0 btw. Maybe on his tip toes in platform shoes. He's listed at 6'0. He's probably barely 5'10. Those two inches are huge when it comes to the 6'0 range. I still think he could be a great asset to the team if he's given the time to develop though. We'll have to wait and see.

As the season wore on, it looked to me like Adelman intentionally got Brooks to slow down and set up plays, and be less reliant on his speed. He seemed to be trying to teach Brooks to play the PG position the "right way" for the future even if it meant sacrificing some of his effectiveness in the present.

So is Brooks our future? I don't know. I'm still pretty wary of his size and strength and I'm not sure if he'll ever be able to compensate. But I get the feeling we'll see a much-improved Brooks come next season, and I wouldn't be unhappy to see him battling for the backup PG spot.

Just was checking out some predraft measurements and I stumbled across Aaron Brook's stuff. Pretty interesting I think. I keep seeing people in threads posting how tall they think Brooks might be, so I figured id shed some light on what I found. Got all my info from DraftExpress.com

    Aaron Brooks - 2007
    5' 10.5" W/O shoes
    5' 11.75" W/ shoes
    161 Weight.
    6' 4" Wingspan
    7' 10" Standing Reach
    2.7 Body Fat
    32.5 No Step Vert
    39.5 Max Vert
    6 Bench Press
    10.57 Lane Agility
    3.20 3/4 Court Sprint
    14 Class Rank
    26 Drafted

And heres a visual chart just to show some recent PG comparisons. I never realised Aaron brooks had such a ridiculous vertical. His speed and agility is about where I thought they would be.

AB for a starter, I do not think so..
    Let's account on RA...

But I am sure that AB is a quite strong backup in bench... So go for it... he might need more experiences on that..

But never account on L Head.. He makes me uphappy by his performance on Playoff..

brooks still need to study how to make the team run through his vision and passing .i do not think he has make full use of his speed.brooks will not be a starting player ,may be a fantastic back-up

Thing is, he can be a playmaker. The few times we've seen him this year alongside Yao, he's shown an ability to get him the ball in good scoring positions.

However I don't think that's his best asset. Why fit a square peg into a round hole? AB has outstanding speed and a good shooting touch. He'd be much better off gunning off the bench in 5-8 min spurts a la Bobby Jackson in his prime.
