Rondo (reputation) similarity. This is why I heard Ray Allen couldn't stand Rondo. Rondo wouldn't skip the pass along the perimeter to have the better angle for an entry pass... Rondo had to dribble over there, so he could make the entry pass. Get the assist, and so on
I like Ivey a bunch - starting to see him more as a scoring guard. Doubt it would work with Green after giving it some thought. Would make for some awesome highlights and fan friendly games, but ultimately there would be too much overlap and power struggle IMO and I view Jalen as a supreme talent over Ivey. Need to get a big guy. Dont let "BPA" trick you.
J smith Chet Banchero Ivey I’ll be good with anyone of them.. let’s get that 1st pick before we fight over picking it.
First KPJ being better than Green and now Nix better than Ivey. I wonder if other fanbases consider their G League level players better than surefire lottery picks.
Green was a Gleague player with Nix, your point? Let me be clear, I like Ivey but I don't want ANY MORE GUARDS we have enough of them, we need TALLER PLAYERS. We need 6'9" SForwards, we need 6'10" PF or Centers......we need height our team does not need another 6'2" guard who needs the ball in his hands and is a shoot first player.... DD
I mean we have Christopher too, who I think is the real deal. I’m really hoping one of our first round picks will be an athletic front line player. If we get another guard, I would like to see more of a pure point guard.
We need Chet, Jabari or Banchero. I do think Ivey should be selected by the Rockets with the 4th pick since he's the BPA after the three bigs.
I wouldn’t get too excited about this possibility. Rockets are desperate to waste away their top 5 pick by winning pointless games
Look we have to stop drafting the same ****ING PLAYERS as we already have... Ivey=Green=KPJ They all need the ball in their hands to be the best they can be......this roster is a ****ing joke - we need better planning. Reading this thread is like hearing a bunch of people only concerned with the next shiny object in the stream and wondering why is it that our guys never develop and we never win. BALANCE - we need ROSTER balance..... Not only do you hinder the players you have already - Christopher and Nix are currently being hindered - but you also hamstring the team from ever going anywhere......just recycling the same players and hoping for a different result. A team full of Michael Jordon's would never win anything........and we don't have MJ. DD
Yeah, but they're actually not the same player. KPJ, Jalen Green, and Jaden Ivey are all stylistically different players. If you think they're the same player because they're all the same height I don't know what to tell you. I saw a different KPJ Wednesday night and I was very encouraged. It wasn't statistics related. It was his approach to the game, but I'm skeptical because he did it against a trash team with no defense. I need more. I need to see this is consistently the kind of player he wants to be. Kevin Porter Jr. suddenly decided to actually start driving to the basket the past couple of games instead of dribbling around, going nowhere, and launching contested step backs. There is a distinguishable difference in the flow of an offense when you have a point guard the is getting in the other team's paint and putting constant pressure on the defense. It creates opportunities for other people by shifting the defense and causing them to converge on the ball handler which creates open shots. That is what I envision Jaden Ivey doing all game long. That is Ivey's biggest strength as a player. If KPJ is suddenly going to be close to that type of player and is going to do this while also not getting himself kicked off the team by being an idiot then fine let's not even consider Ivey. I'm not so sure on either account. Do you believe in him that much to pass on a potential all-star and guy that can cover that position the next 10 years? I would LOVE for that to happen and KPJ be that guy, but there is more evidence to suggest that he isn't going to do either of those things than there is to suggest he will. If we end up with the 4th pick, and Ivey is the top player there, they need to pick him. That is my opinion.
The Rockets core is Green and maybe Sengun. They can easily fit a likely great guard on their team, and use other resources to add length.
Come on Vator, stylistically? How many successful playoff teams have 4 starting 6'5" guys.......and the two main ones need the ball to show off their style. Not only are we screwed right now because our balance is slowing the development of others that need time, but adding an IVEY would be hilariously stupid. Not saying he can't play, but if you believe in Ivey, then you got to trade, KPJ, Nix, and Christopher as they will just wither here on the vine....and we still are too damned short. I LOVE IVEY, but I think the guys we got are developing fine too.....I would like to give them some help with some height, and some skillsets we lack.....rebounding, shot blocking, elite 3pt making. DD
^^ He ain't lying about Rox needing talented bigs more than anything else.. But Nix ain't better than Ivey bruh... Nix will be lucky to get a decent contract next couple years.. Ivey will be starting from day 1 on someone's shitty team ... Guarantee if Ivey is drafted, Nix will be nixed immediately
I agree with him that Rockets need more length. I disagree with him that decisions on who to draft has anything to do with anyone on roster not named Green (even then, Rockets should draft BPA). Trades and free agency are better avenues to address fit. Though, I expect Nix will be kept as a backup PG. JC and KPJ would be more uncertain of their being kept.
