Its a great film for sure..not perfect..but great. I wrote a paper on it for a film class back in college. Kubrick really relied on his use of colors to convey feelings within locales in this film..which he does A LOT, but even moreso in this film. The whole moral ambiguity of the punishment vs. rehabilitation vs. reprogramming arc was very well done. Still haven't read the book, but am told it was incredible.

I think Life is Beautiful, although less cool and artsy, is closer to the perfect film- with a love story, comedy, serious themes, a little action, deep conscious thinking, moral lessons, etc.

While the film is very good. The books is much better, and of course has differences from the book. It's been a long time since I read the book, but it started me reading as much as I could by Anthony Burgess, and then found that A Clockwork Orange wasn't even my favorite book by him. It's not really even in the top three for me.

    Dr. Strangelove is Kubrick's best.

I'm not sure what it would mean for a film to be 'perfect.' Whatever that is, it sounds impossible.

And, it sounds dumb to say 'film' as if you're too smart to see movies.

"film" is just a medium, which was used when they shot it.

My friend told me to watch this film but I'm not a fan of gore/scary. Is it as bad as Human Centipede/Hostel?

I can watch movies that have a little gore like American History X/Pulp Fiction.

See it with the family. It's like a futuristic Oliver Twist.

    not very gory.

You are under 21 so I would predict you will think it is 'boring' and 'what is all the hype about' In fact I can almost guarantee you will hate it.

1st half of the movie is entertaining. It's not like todays movies with explosions etc it is more interesting visuals, good music tied in, more intrigue. it also has an appearance by the guy who played chewbacca from star wars which I am sure you probably hate too.

I thought "death wish" was more of a masterpiece than this, in terms of disturbing.

Like all the other Stanley Kubrick movies I've seen, I thought it was terrible.

I might be, no, I KNOW I'm the only one who thinks Eyes Wide Shut was Kubrick's best movie.
