Because he doesn't believe that you should be able to shoot first and ask questions later. He had a knife thrown at him.

The lawmakers' actions prove that a stronger deadly force bill is unnecessary ~ he was able to effectively defend himself under current legislation.

anyone else get a funny mental picture of a tiny little pocket knife getting thrown (which by the way pocket knifes usually dont throw too well)...then Miles kind of doing on of those gay dodge posses that people get into when caught off guard. To only regain his composure and saying 'Mother F-er"...BAM.

humorous to me at least :D

And he didn't use deadly force either. He shot the attacker in the leg; a perfectly reasonable response under the circumstances.

That wouldn't be deadly force either .... it'd be some really freakin' painful force, but not deadly.

Actually, it wasn't a pocketknife, it was a beanbag and the thrower clearly said "Lightningbolt!" when he threw it, so we knew that it was a lightning attack with at least a +3 mage casting the spell. That's clearly initiating the aggression with deadly force, therefore it was appropriate for the legislator to respond with deadly force if he had no opportune time to return to his home for safety.

Copper is getting pretty expensive and thieves like it because they have effectively legal fences in the scrap metal industry.

You can steal copper from a job site, take it to the scrap metal place and get your $2 bills, no questions asked, then the copper is melted down with no way to track the stolen item.

Perfect crime, no way to get caught later. My Dad's building business has had a pretty bad run of stolen materials lately as building costs have skyrocketd over the last couple of years. Plywood, front doors, copper wiring/pipes, etc. All expensive, all stolen, all adding costs to everyone else.

My uncle works in the A/C business, and he often lets my brother scrap old units for him because he doesn't have time.

For a couple hours of work, my brother usually comes away with $200-400.

    It's definitely worth it.
