I'm generally for allowing deadly force, but the guy was stealing wire? From a construction site? I know copper prices are up, but seriously? The representative should go to jail.

 

They did throw a knife at him. And if it's two against one, I wouldn't mind a little help.

 

Why is there such a huge surge in copper theft? I hear about it around here all the time, in fact one guy got electrocuted to death when trying to steal copper wiring from a power company substation. Is copper really that great?

HMMMMMM. Law goes into effect Sept. 1. Wonder why he didn't run out the back door and call the Police? That is evidently what he wanted everyone else to do.

Be curious to see if the perp sues him.

It is. Usually big AC units are the prime target, these greedy idiots went for water pipes. It actually looks like the theives had been there once already and went back for more. KHOU said the leak he was there fixing was caused by pipes that were cut and stolen well before the incident that led to the shooting.

 

Not to derail this into D&D, but the guy didn't act contrary to what he said. The bill "states that a person has no duty to retreat from an intruder before using deadly force." In other words, the bills said it's just fine for people to shoot first, ask questions later. That's a bit different than shooting an intruder who has already attempted to assault you ("of the men threw a pocketknife at him"). Sounds to me like Rep. Miles acted with a cool head and some restraint. We could use more gun-owners like him.

 

Well they said it was at night, which if someone burglarizes at night you can shoot them.

If he had seen a knife thrown at him and he knew the threat was gone he shouldn't have shot, (but I would have shot too.)
