Thanks for throwing in your one comment....how about you explain how that post was stupid. Russia, France, and China have a hell of a lot more business with Saddam than we do and thats why they don't want a war that will throw him out of power. Sorry I had to stick with simple words like 'bad' but I didn't feel like recapping everything that Saddam has done. People who are against the war say it is for oil, but they forget that the U.S. has done many other things for the right ideals. Yes the U.S. has done some bad and selfish and misguided things in the past, but overall where our ideals have succeeded nations have been better off. Examples...N. Korea v S. Korea, Japan, W. Germany compared to E. Germany, Afghanistan. I am just rambling but to say my post is stupid and nothing more is just pointless and stupid itself.
The chair is against the wall, the chair is against the wall. John has a long moustache. John has a long moustache. Very funny stuff NJRocket!
I believe that (despite what Bush says) the Iraqi people view Bush as a bad man who is doing bad things and who should not be in power. Using your frail logic, the Iraqi people should do the right thing and use every means at their disposal to force a regime change in the US. The pending war with Iraq is all about the US protecting its and its allies economic interests. This reason is no different than the one we use in the original Gulf War. The reason that some of the members of the UN security council are not supporting Bush is that Bush has not explained why this war needs to be waged now. Bush has also withheld intell from the UN weapons inspection team, which is also another rub with the UN.
Well, is it the US protecting it's economic interests, or is it Bush protecting his own wallet? Isn't there a difference?
Some of this action is to protect the vital oil fields, I will give you that. You don't want a crazy man to control the oil supply or at least have the ability to cause drastic fluctuations in the prices. It won't be good for our economy. Don't you view that as a threat to America? What if the US/UN would have left Iraq in Kuwait since everyone is against using force? Then he invades Saudi Arabia. That would be a big problem. It would be similar to the 70's when OPEC cut off the oil. With the evidence that we have that this man is a known terrorist supporter (not including any links to 9-11) and a murderer is this still not enough to remove him from power? Why not send in an elite military group to assasinate him or kidnap him and remove him?
I knew 'someone' would finally jump the gun; happens every time. Where in this thread did I say that the oil was sufficient cause to go to war?
