It's about a war on terror and those that contribute to terror...Conservatives find it ok to stand behind that.

By your standard, the USA was the biggest sponsor of terror during the Cold War, even outstripping the USSR. Hell, they even stooped to supporting Saddam Hussein, the ayatollahs in Iran (Iran-Contra, anyone?), and the jihadists in Afghanistan, who now make up Al-Qaeda. If you seriously insist that the Revolutionary Guard be declared a terrorist group, the CIA should be declared a terrorist group too.

So why don't you go after Saudi Arabia, where the terrorists are from and enjoy broad support even within the royal family? Oh wait, their royal family is tight with the Bushes, never mind.....

So what should you call it, a "war on terrorist factions that aren't our allies"? It would be more accurate.

The Revolutionary Guard undertake actions which promote and facilitate terroristic deeds in the region...Knowing that the region of neighboring states is a breeding ground for the type of terrorism that has been declared against us due to a twisted religion is obvious...

Iran is a nation sponser of pure, unadulterated terroristic acts...In other words, they are a part of the war on terror because of the contribution to terror against us...

The Revoultionary Guard should be undermined by every effort and means possible...I condone that and support that.

The weird thing is that you NEED Iran's military if you want to overthrow the Mullahs.....

You can not blow up and disband an active military, that creates too much of a power vaccum.....

That is the reason so many Nazis went back to work as policeman etc.....after WW2.....

And it is the reason that Iraq is in such a quagmire.......should have kept their military entact.

Well, maybe we only wanted to create chaos instead of democracy? If so, then what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan makes sense.

by the way, it was also the U.S who caused the Mullahs to become so strong after it aided the IRANIAN SHAH regime to overthrow the governmet and use and abuse his people.

by the way, it is not a twisted religion, it is a twisted misunderstanding and interpretation to the religion.

This is not correct. The US is number 1 but not far ahead of Russia. China definately does much lower dollar amounts but seems to have cornered the 'ghetto' small arms market, selling to Myanmar, Bangladesh, North Korea and most of the conflict zones in Africa, like Sudan. Selling F-16's to Poland and Greece strikes me as fundamentally more respectable than selling crates of AK-47's and RPG's to Myanmar and tin pot strong man dictators in Africa.

But I guess my point really was that if you wish to bash the USA for selling arms and complaining about others doing the same then you are adding your own hypocrisy to whatever American hypocracy since China does the same.

Here is more on the types of arms sales made by China.

if you look at the graph in the middle, US share of the arms sale world wide have been over 50% since the mid 90s.

You do realize that the last statistics they have reported for are more than 10 years ago? You might try looking for more recent statistics. It took me all of five to ten seconds to find half a dozen more recent totals that say something different.

well, let me see them then. i actually saw on CNN last week, it was still similar statistics. i remember that they said for sure, US still makes/sells more weapon than the rest of the world combined, at least in terms of dollar amount. regardless the figure, US military budget is by far the biggest in the world. the more you spend on making weapons, the more you make selling them. these companies didn't spend that much money for use in US only.
